POST GAME Round 12 - Broncos vs West Tigers

Agreed. On another note, it's not the loss, it's the way we lost which irks me, and sorry, but I also don't accept the excuses of our missing Origin players. Sure they would have made a difference specifically in holding the middle, but still, for mine, we had the team to win this. What bothers me the most is the lack of combination, the lack of control shown by our halves. They are in fact showing me they are both opportunists more than what halves should be: opportunists yes, but more importantly, as central to a spine, they have to have forged a combination which controls the game with passing, kicking and communication, working as a unit and not simply skilled individuals who get lucky every once in a while. There was no organisation out there for most of the match. That is what I find the most disappointing - the way we lost ... not that we lost.

This is a great highlight of Darius Boyds value to the team. His organisational skills on defence and attack are hugely overlooked. We missed him tonight and it showed that our halves aren't quite where they need to be on the game management front. It will come though. Not all doom and gloom.

No not all doom and gloom by any stretch. We will be bounce back

1. Kahu - Solid but needed more from him attack, I think he is still playing injured.
2. Eden - Typical Eden, tried really hard and was pretty good mostly with an error or two in between.
3. Reed - We all know it, sooner or later Bennett has to do something about it but will it be this year or next?
4. Roberts - Every time he had the ball he looked likely, unfortunately that was few and far between, needs to look for work and cut out the error or two per game, did look disinterested.
5. Maranta - You all know I love the guy but he played like a guy who is scared about being reinjured.
6. Milford - I actually thought he was pretty good personally but where was he on that last play?
7. Hunt - He is so good and so off in every game these days, still a champion but something needs to be done about him crumbling under pressure at the end of games because that will be what stops him guiding a team to a premiership.
8. Joffa - Was ok but definitely nothing to right home about.
9. Macca - Tried hard and I look his stints in the second row.
13. Wallace - Was a class above every other forward out there, shame he doesn't deserve a place in the side according to Unfozzable, Wallace could very well make origin in the next season or two.
11. Glenn - He was great and really tried to lift the team with some big runs and hits.
12. Su'a - Does he remind anyone else of a young SBW? Was out of his depth tonight but won't be for long.
10. Blair - Captain who didn't really lead from the front or the back, made some big defensive errors he doesn't usually make tonight.

14. Arrow - Workmanlike performance and that is ok for a young guy finding his feet at this level.
15. Junior Jr - I loved what I saw from him tonight, he really stood out and did some big runs and some big hits. The one out running was not so good but that is hardly his fault.
16. Ese'ese - Another solid if unspectacular showing and gave away a crucial penalty or two. Might find himself behind Su'a l, Arrow and especially Junior Jr if he's not careful.
17. KNik - Do we have to lose him? There is just so much to like about him and he can play anywhere in the backline. His defense has also improved out of sight.

I don't get the Blair captaincy call.
Blair standing and offloading in the last 5 mins was the worst part for me. The young guys are showing him up on hit ups too.

Still fuming over the Hunt "knock on". A 12-point turnaround for mine. Broncos were no good, but felt like they were on the back foot as soon as that woeful call was made.

The rookies didnt let us down tonight, the likes of Milf, Hunt, Blair, Roberts and Reed did.

We are desperate for some leadership, even with our experienced guys back i dont think we have a good captain.

I dont mind Reed, but he is starting to offer less and less and isnt warranting a spot.

Roberts is a waste of space on the right, get him on the left where he can at least get his hands on the ball more and do more damage, and shift Kahu to right center and just play Maranta or Eden on the wing. I would like to see Opacic on the wing personally, but the club see him as a center.

Bennett needs to lay down the law to some of our key players, their level of performance just wasnt acceptable tonight. They needed to stand up and be counted tonight and lead these young blokes, and they were found wanting against a very ordinary tigers side.

We were missing nearly our entire forward pack, our fullback (that just so happens to be the Australian and QLD fullback) and our best winger.

Get a fucking grip.

Are you happy with the way we've played this year?

Our decimated forward pack was completely dominated...

Milford should have set himself for a field goal and demanded the ball, as he is really our only field goal kicker ... But didn't

Kahu seems to have inherited the Broncos GK curse ... I.e. nail the sideline conversions and miss the easier ones.

I expected a much better display, but not the end of the world

Not entirely, I think we have plenty of improvement in us and there is no way to have a fair indication one way or the other at this point.

My whole post was responding to the claim that even with our origin players we would not have won tonight, that is such a stupid comment that it hurts to even contemplate it.

Oh ... And if we are hoing to leave Reed in the team can we at least swap him and Roberts.... So Robertd gets the same amount of ball as Reed is currently getting

Get a ****ing grip.
That's just it, even at full strength I haven't seen much to suggest that we will be anything come finals time. If Bennett is keeping his cards close to his chest and the team is just coasting along waiting until September to turn it on I'll eat my hat. Combinations need to be functioning and visible at this stage... I haven't seen s**t apart from moments of individual brilliance. They need to get it together soon.

Next week's training session.

Learn how to set up for a fucking field goal properly.

Jesus christ, that was amateurish.

This is a game we should have won, even without our Origin players. We had our chances.

Milford and Hunt barely took on the line.. Tigers have one of the worst defences in the comp and these two barely did that.

Also, why can't we kick for Roberts from the scrum more. There was one moment where Tigers only had 1 player on the right side marking up on him. A kick over the top and Roberts burns him easily.

I felt sorry for Niko, he was trying so hard out there. We could have got on the front foot if our forwards ran off him. Instead, he was always tackled with the ball.

Do you see what happens when Roberts gets the ball? They swarm him.

It would be no different on the left.

They'll just get numbers on the left and swarm him there. Broncos need to get more creative.

I like Eden. I can see why Wayne likes him. Pace to burn and committed in defence. You can see he is nearly there but not quite there.

Roberts can get outside his opposite with his speed if he gets a good ball and the defence is slow to react, id rather see him coming up the middle off some short balls or outside inside style plays
