PRE-GAME Round 13 - Warriors vs Broncos

We are already in a slump and will be until the end of origin.

If the Tigers forwards dominated us, we'll have no chance against the Warriors. Put them under pressure and they make errors and stupid decisions in defence. Give them leeway and I fear they'll be offloading at will, wearing our defence down, and score 50 on us.

Oatesy had a bad head injury tonight in origin
I think him and Gillett will get a rest this week and Parker and Thaiday will get a game off after origin two or three

Boyd may get a spell - got roughed up at the back a bit tonight and that knee genuinely looked to hurt him.

I'm expecting a big game from Luke this week.

He was in tears after his haka last week because he felt he let his family, fans and members down.

I'm expecting that to motivate him, and with our Origin forwards likely being rested and with the loss of Macca, he could really tear us to shreds in the middle which would lift the rest of the team.

I'm not very confident about this game.

If the words coming from the mouth of my family who live in New Plymouth match that of the rest of the fans, they were fucking filthy too.

I hope Gillet, Oates, Boyd and Parker are rested. They are too valuable to risk. Apart from which I want to see the young forwards get further experience which will come in handy when we might need it most - at the back end of the season, aside from which I enjoy watching young talent time.

If we go down minus some key players, particularly forwards, it is hardly a form slump, it is coaching and experience for their young replacements.

Also, I am seriously expecting (I wish I could say "demanding") BIG games from Hunt, Milford and Roberts. Either way, the result doesn't bother me too much although of course 2 points would be nice at this time of the season.

Boys just landed. Nice and easy.

How's Corey Oates? His head looked nasty on tv last night but it was probably just the blood + hair + that goo used to stop bleeding making it look worse than it really was. Will he play this week?

At one point, it looked like he was scalped...

It's been confirmed that Oates and Gillett will not play.

It's on the Fox Sports website in the videos section. They have stayed back home.

Have to agree about Hunt, Milf and Roberts, and our other more senior players as well. They badly let down the young blokes against a poor tigers side imo.

While we agree on most things, I disagree the Tigers were poor. I thought they were coached well to exploit our right hand side minus Gillett who stitches it up most of the time and it paid dividends through the inexperience of youth out there. I thought the Tigers executed well for the most part, were full of beans and moved the ball very well out wide.

Given Milf and Hunt ... and Roberts didn't have their best games, we did very well to go down by only 1 point in a game that for me was not the "classic" defence wins matches - for me it was a game where we should have outscored them via our brilliant halves and very good spine, even though on the whole we did defend well all things being equal on the night with our young roster.

Hope every one lifts for this game cos it's there for the taking

Or the young blokes let down Hunt..

Dont think the tigers were poor against us tbh, but i dont think they are that good a footy team. I think we didnt impose ourselves enough against them which allowed them to play the game they wanted to.

I think you're spot on, and personally, I give kudos to clever coaching, and I thought Lawrence played very well.

Against the Warriors, I want to see us put on a lot of points via Milf, Hunt and Roberts exploiting their big forwards, and bottling up Luke who will try to fracture us up the middle and with Johnson, lots of 2nd phase plays.

Having said that, my main interest - aside from HUnt Milf and Roberts, is watching our young forwards stick it to them.

I've backed the Warriors this week, to my disgust. I think we'll rest most/all of the Origin guys, and the big Kiwi pack will be too tough to beat. Plus Manu is back and will have a blinder. And we often struggle against the Warriors for some reason.

I think we'll get done. I hope it's close.
