POST GAME [Round 14, 2024] Broncos vs Sharks

@1910
Those quotes are about him doing flashy plays that don`t come off or not putting in efforts .
That was not the case the other night .

Sure I have no doubt that's what you read, but it ignores the 457 times I said about handling errors and lack of attention to detail from Sailor in those posts and every post about him since 22.

I do recall you saying on a few occasions that his lack of detail lets him down constantly. They way you described his lapses made him sound like he was suffering from ADHD.

I was fucking pissed after the game, but looking back, it's no real shock. The backup players aren't NRL starters for a reason. If they didn't have those lapses and/or errors in them, they'd be starting for us or another club. We're short on depth everywhere, but it's not just the injuries to the top 17. It's experienced players like Hoeter, Pereira etc, who have the experience we desperately need, even just to fill in at 2-5 and put Cobbo back to 1.

But the biggest (and most obvious in hindsight) killer was our bench. With Smoothy, Hetherington & Jetski, the only big body was Baker, who gave away 6 agains and offered no go forward. Hetherington is an asset if the opposition is tired, but too small if we're getting monstered, and Jetski is only a foot in front of Hunt as our depth back-rower.

Willison's return should make a massive difference, hopefully the cavalry or Reynolds, Walsh, and dare I say it, Future Immortal Arthurs, aren't back too late.

It really is exactly what it came down to. Our bench was not able to compete with theirs, that simple. I think Kev would be better off going back to his old philosophy of having one of his starters not start and have plodder with a weapon instead. It also just so happened that our bench came on and had to the lions share of defense at the back end of the first half. So they were gassed after defending very well on our own try line for so long, hence the errors that came from those players. Oates on the other hand had no excuse and would have been very offside with his pigs for making that error after holding for so long.
