Round 14 - Broncos vs. Tigers - Post Match Discussion

He ran some good lines in the first half, some really solid hitups.

It was good to see actually as i reckon he's a shandi away from regaining some awesome form (if he's not injured)

Ok, thanks. I must have missed that. Then... good, except no injury please, not at this time of year

He's put on too much bulk. If he doesn't slim down a bit, he'd probably benefit the team more by playing in the middle.

True, but I'd rather him on the edge

Not much to add that I haven't already brought up in the game thread.

Norman has to go. Immediately. Wallace can go with him next year but we need him for the remainder of 2013. Don't really care who replaces them - someone with heart for Norman, preferably Barba. I like Wal, but he's just not 'it'. He was really shit in attack tonight, defence as good as always but it's not what he's there for. Hunt to Q-Cup to train for #6 or 7 next year alongside Prince. Princey was in vintage form tonight. Granville to 14.

Hook to go. For anyone except Kearney really. He really is the weakest link.

Forwards were outstanding tonight, as was the left side attack. Hannant brings so much to the team, Parker is the king, and they all played with some mongrel, they brought some pain. It was great to watch.

Reed / Hoffman MUST STAY. Imagine a Hodges / YY combo on the right as well........

EDIT: Thaiday can't be captain, it takes too much out of him or something - and he's not a front rower either. Back to second row next year / later this year for Hala to start. Give (c) to Parker or someone, don't really care who but take it off Thaiday, he's far better to the team without it IMO.

Get Barba / DCE and a decent coach who encourages our forwards to play ball, and watch us take the premiership as opposition defences stand off, not knowing whether to slide left or right. :thumbup1:

as most have said, our forwards were excellent. the second phase play and desire to offload up the middle was great to see. wheres that been? hannant parker mcguire gillett all very good. gillett still seems a little lost at itmes but he never stops trying.

hoffman again was sensational, reed tried hard, hodges was excellent, and i thought maranta was solid.

even macca had a few good kicks for position, and a sharp pass to hoffman for that try. hunt had a bit of spark.

wallace was woeful. norman may as well not bother playing for us anymore. prince ok

we really just need a decent half.

funny someone mentioned earlier that hannant is a better hafl than wallace - i said the same to a friend of mine mid game.

tigers were pathetic. we would not have beaten any top sides tonight but for hte most part the team really put in a good effort and while htey took some time to warm up you could see they were hungry and starting to play for each other a bit more.

lot to work on still but at least we can take some real positives from that game.

its pretty clear we need to structure our game around our forwards passing hte ball and creating space off the back of them running in pairs and second phase play.

hala was very good tonight as well. ran the ball strongly and also a few hits with a bit of venom.

seriously we just need a half that can control a game and pick good options on the 5th tackle and we could be a decent force.

If the broncos were in good form this year and winning matches, I dare say Parker would be top 3 for Dally M. That bloke is just unreal. Absolute blinder. Normans attempt at stopping the tigers' first try made me physically ill and was OKAY in attack. Wallace was woeful. Hopefully with 2 weeks of training up our sleeve we can work on some fucking set plays because we just don't seem to know any. I thought hunt delivered some good balls and provided some momentum.

Yeah it was a good performance and we desperately needed a result. I would've taken 32-31 but it was good to get that result, get the two points. We haven't had much joy for a long time, so the boys are all pretty pumped about that and it will give some of those young kids some good confidence.

One thing i noticed tonight, particularly from our forwards, was their attempts to play the ball much quicker than they have been lately.

Some really good things come off the back of that and i think they learnt something tonight.

Too many times our guys don't really try to get up fast enough to allow some good attacking plays/runs at a retreating defensive line.

Tonight we seemed to turn the table on the Tigers in that regard, something the Tigers usually do really well.

The timing on the left side was off ... not just Wallace, but bloody Norman who won't pass. Damn that is sooo frustrating. As soon as it gets to Reed, things look really positive. His combination with Hoffman is becoming a stand out

This is very true. As soon as it gets to reed 90% of the time between him
And hoffy there will be a try... I just can't understand why Norman has such a hard fucking time getting the ball there

Bloody ego. Honestly, the number of blown opportunities when he tries his slow, over rated step instead of getting it to Reed

The only thing to be happy with is the W, they are running 15th and without Farah so not looking into anything.

Norman blowing two opportunities to pass for a certain try was the highlight for me.

Agree with most, surprised Gillett isn't getting better reviews, his effort was very good tonight and looked to have a bit of confidence about him at last.
What to say about Wallace,? he tries so hard and his D is solid but man his attack, he's like a Jurassic park mozzie stuck in the amber.

We probably just sucked less than the Tigers but at least we had good moments with a few good individual games. We actually attempted some second phase and the stadium didn't collapse so let's hope Hook lets them keep that up.

If he could kick, I'd rather have Reed at FB than Norman

i do think norman has talent but i cant wait for him to get out of this side. he's clearly got an ego and does not put his body on the line. send him off ala soward imo.

All In all a lot of positives tonight. Finally we looked to be playing with pride and as a team. Great defence, great kick chase. I think many guys were outstanding tonight. Gillett just kept turning up, such a competitor. Reed and hoffy both brilliant, as someone said earlier hoffy has to be one of the best wingers in the game at the moment and him and reedy are forming an amazing partnership. Hannant and thaiday great, but Parker what a champion, he IS the broncos, still such an outrage that he isn't captain

I don't think there were many negatives tonight, except for Norman and Wallace, seriously **** off. Norman has to be one of the most egotistical, selfish pricks playing the game, seriously get the **** out of my team. Once kahu is back put him at fullback, seriously he couldn't be any worse.

The panthers seem to have gone cold on Wallace, reckon we could convince parra to take Wallace with Norman as a package deal?

^ id be all for throwing kahu in at fullback. at least he will have a genuine crack. anyone really.

Mate, I'd have Hala at fullback before Norman. At least he would give it his all... And he would probably have faster kick returns

imagine hala catching a downfield kick on the full on the 20 metre line and having an open field to just wind up

i mean thats essentially what inglis is
