I think we can take them on tbh. With Reno would have been even more amazing to see.
But I think we have more strike in the outside backs-

I think if we can show some fight ill be happy with that

Norths QLD cup Premiers

2022:
Norths 7-3

I don’t mind a bloke with a 45% win strike against the NRL’s glamour club over the past decade with 2 ‘cellar dwellars’ sides. 2 runner ups in England’s competitions in the one year and assisted Norths to a premiership back end of last year whilst having them 7-3 this year. Look I give us a chance to have a crack at Melbourne this week. Let’s hope Papi stays on emergency and we get a good crack at these boys.

I think we will be up to our necks in it. We will not be polished by any means and we will splutter because we have a gaping vortex in the 7 jersey but if we can turn up with the same attitude we have for the last two months, that will keep us in it despite the gulf in class between them with few injuries and us with half the team broken.

Olam v Staggs.

I think Fittler is thinking about a change in the centres and Kotoni could be fighting to keep his spot, so I hope he uses this game to show why he should be kept in the side. A strong performance against arguably the most consistent centre of the past few years and one of Storm's best attacking threats should be enough.

Walters:

“Adam won’t be playing this weekend, he is just too banged up in the ribs. We will give him this game off and then with another week off for rep round, hopefully he will be all right for the Cowboys game. I think his ribs are fractured or dislocated. There’s no point risking Adam at this stage of the season. He couldn’t finish last week’s game so we have to be smart about the welfare of our players and that’s what we’re doing with Adam.”
“It’s not an age issue, I’m not concerned about his injuries at all. In this instance, Adam’s ribs were in the wrong place and all the weight came down onto him. I said to Adam it’s good for our guys to learn and play without him sometimes and when he does come back in, he will add the polish and the finesse and the competitiveness that he brings."
“We haven’t seen the best of ‘Reyno’ yet, that’s the encouraging sign for later in the season as we head to the finals ... the fact that Adam has more improvement in him.”
“We’re going to give Payne every chance. He and Pat are resting up with their Origin commitments, but Payne will train with us on Thursday and then we will make a decision on him.”

If we were ever going to cop a beating for the better good of the season, this would be the game to do it in.

Even fully fit, it's a big ask to go to Melbourne and win.

I hope not, keep the score within 12 and I'll be happy. A blowout should not be acceptable, even if I think it's likely. Melbourne are our weakness every damn year.

So wait, did scans show a fracture or not?

Scans showed "injury to Adam's Costochondral Junction in a rib"

Complex chest wall injuries 1

If we do a head to head, I come up with:

1. Paps (TMM has been really good though) (Storm)
2. Oates (Broncos)
3. Staggs (Broncos)
4. Olam (Storm)
5. Cobbo (Broncos)
6. Munster (Mam is promising but not even close yet) (Storm)
7. Hughes (comparing him with Roberts is sad) (Storm)
8. Bromwich (to try and be fair) (Storm)
9. Grant (by a mile) (Storm)
10. Haas (Broncos)
11. Capewell (Broncos)
12. Kaufusi (Storm)
13. Carrigan (by a mile) (Broncos)

14. Smith (by a mile) (Storm)
15. Hetherington (Broncos)
16. Flegler (Broncos)
17. Palasia (Broncos)

I reckon we have them still in the backs and forwards but man, their spine is MILES and MILES ahead of ours.

I'll be surprised if Payne plays, stopping short of astonished only because it's Payne and that's what he does. He'll be doing us no favours by soldiering on with his foot half on the brake, which is how he does it. Notwithstanding, your analysis still pans out with Rhys coming onto the bench.

If Patty and Tom can shut down Munster, we're in with a chance. Otherwise, it might get very ugly through the middle.

If we can absolutely dominate in the middle we are a chance of keeping it competitive, and with our injuries if we stop it from becoming a blowout then it will really show our improvement. The Storm spine is rep level where ours is QCup level.

I have a bad feeling about this game..
We seem to be the walking wounded at the moment with our players carrying injuries.
I have a feeling our halves are about to be schooled by the storm . I think we'd be flat out beating them at full strength.
I hope I'm wrong but a close result in this game would be a good result I think.

We don’t need Reynolds or Paix to defend. If we put in a proud defensive effort but fizzle in attack then that’s al you can really ask.

We’ve somehow found a way to win even when we’ve looked like losing lately. Our patchy starts should see storm trot them in to put the game out of reach in a first half to forget and I’m expecting a second half we can be proud of but we just won’t be able to match their class.

A big thing with this game for me will be our defensive line speed and ruck control.

Usually storm absolutely destroy us because they're attacking our retreating defensive line all game.

Coming into this game I'm expecting us to be dominated in the possession stats, primarily due to the vast difference in class between the spines, but our fitness levels have improved this year, so I'm hoping we're also not getting dominated in the ruck and field position as well.

If we can stick with the storm for the majority of the game and not get completely rolled through the ruck it will give a good indication that our wrestle and ruck control have improved and we can compete with the big boys of the comp.

I expect we wont have enough points and storm could pile on points at the back end, but hoping to see us fight for the majority of the game and make storm work for it
