Still don't understand why Oates isn't on the team. His form is no worse than Coates. Are they trying to discourage him from exercising his player option by treating him like shit or something.

One of Oates or Mead should be picked over Coates. I can’t explain it. I’m sure Oates’ snubbing is to encourage him not to take his bloated PO for next year but Mead I don’t get.

it's just because Coates made QLD. It's not easy for Kev to say that the QLD selectors were wrong.

How do you tell a team you're already finding hard to motivate that QLD selectors (who have been right 9/10 times) are wrong, and that success (getting a call up) deserves demotion? I agree, his form is down, but it also leads to finger pointing and distrust.

How do you tell a team you're already finding hard to motivate that QLD selectors (who have been right 9/10 times) are wrong, and that success (getting a call up) deserves demotion? Can't agree. He wouldn't be getting dropped for success, he would be getting dropped for:
- Average carries out of trouble;
- Poor attacking skills due seemingly to a loss of confidence;
- Very very poor defensive vision, skill and commitment.

When the other guys in the team with whom he is fighting for a spot can do those things to a better standard, then he should be dropped. IDGAF who the coach is. Mead scored a hat trick a few weeks ago and Coates has been a plodder at best all year. It's not personal, it's form.

- Average carries out of trouble;

Hey, man, I agree he ought to be dropped due to poor form, but when he is the single guy picked to play for QLD on your team, you're asking for trouble dropping him after that.

We're gonna disagree til the cows come home, but he's getting picked for a reason and IMO I've given a reasonable one.

I respect your view but I just don’t agree. Coates isn’t Cam Munster. He’s a guy who got dropped last year for the decider. The selectors got most of the team wrong this year which is why they got handed the worse loss in history.

No way a good origin coach would pick him again after that, though Paul Green rivals Kev for bad team selections so it could happen.

Bur ultimately, broncos players should be selected on form, not any outside factor. If Kev is picking players based on what the media or Paul Green thinks then might as well fold the club now - he’s not a head coach.

I respect your view but I just don’t agree. Coates isn’t Cam Munster. He’s a guy who got dropped last year for the decider. The selectors got most of the team wrong this year which is why they got handed the worse loss in history.

No way a good origin coach would pick him again after that, though Paul Green rivals Kev for bad team selections so it could happen.

The QLD is chosen by selectors too. Also, noone has given a reason for his selection otherwise. I have. Doesn't mean I agree with it. I suppose your reason is Kev is cooked. In that case, have fun watching the game.
