Round 15 - Cowboys vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

It's not the scheduling, IMO: it's because of the resting of players.

True, and you don't win premierships in June. If we are going to be real contenders we have 10 weeks to sort it out.

Really? I can't remember being their 20 more than once or twice in the second half. They dominated possession and field position in the second half and 90% of the time that will win you the game.

You're probably right about the second half, there was certainly chances in the first half though.

Even in the second half Glenn was one lucky bounce from scoring (would have bounced for Manly).

Our kicking game wasn't great and Gillett has been very off lately but they are the only real negatives I am taking out of the match tonight.

BS ... the scheduling was a significant factor ... with the travel back from sydney + north to townsville it was effectively a three day turnaround for brisbane off a tough slog in the wet .. when you're playing off a bye and off two straight (bad) losses, it's a tough spot ...

What don't people understand that these players physically can't back up after Origin?

Hook doesn't have a choice FFS...

The old it's the travel BS.

Apart from the Warriors, we have to travel the most.

Yeah, I don't buy into the scheduling stuff too much. If you keep telling players they should be tired for this or that reason then it will happen.

It wasn't that long ago we had a midweek comp and all the players backed up because that's just the way it was.

The Cowboys players backed up & played well.

Hodges is injury prone so not worth the risk. Petro is over 30. Why risk players when we are 2nd on the ladder?? It really is stupid that you don't like Hook resting these guys. it is just common sense.

I wouldn't use that excuse any other week thus far apart from this one ... as someone who knows quite a deal about physical performance and recovery etc, I can tell you THAT is why the broncos looked drained at the back end of that game

how is that relevant? tamou and scott are not petero and justin hodges. thurston and tate are not forwards.

you saw last year how much fitter we were at the end of the season. locky said himself he felt great at the end of the year and he attributed it (on the commentary tonight) to being given the rests during origin.

the scheduling happens to every team so you cant complain about it. we will benefit from it at other times of the year, just as it affected us tonight.

Tate is just as injury prone as Hodges really.

Although I was surprised he backed up.

THIS

getting to the finals in the best possible shape is everything

Tate's a mad man but really he hasn't suffered the same kinds of injuries as Hodges so can't be compared.

Those forwards aren't Civoniceiva's age so again, can't be compared.

They were fitter, but it still didn't get us to the GF.

Hodges suffers soft tissue injuries while Tate has done his knees and his neck. Fair call but a bit different IMO.

yeah well look at the two teams that did - the Warriors (nuff said) and Manly - who make all their players ineligible for rep duties

Did score us 10 wins from 11 starts though...

But yeah f**k that lets throw players on the field who physically aren't able to play and watch them enhance their injuries. Smart play.
