I really want to know which fans you guys talk to?

Well if that is the case they need to look at some of the Souths wins. We may have beating a few top 8 teams in Sharks, Tigers and Bulldogs. When we played them and had those wins, those teams hadn't fully found their straps, debate could be made on the Sharks having a few game winning streak.

Looking at the Broncos draw you guys do have a better run at the start of the year with the draw compared to the end. However at the start of the year you don't know how teams are going to travel. As we are now halfway through we have an idea of what the final 8 could be and that isn't the fault of the Broncos.

You can only really compare this match with the last match. Broncos grind won them the last match and with a few chances Souths failed to capitalise. I think this match will very much mirror that one but hopefully we do capitalise this time.

I just dont understand that kind of logic, some teams struggle against others no matter where they are on the ladder. Broncos have lost twice to the Cowboys yet they have lost twice to a bottom team in the Titans who have already been beaten by Brisbane.

Anyway Brisbane have a tough Schedule coming up so you wont know until you try.

Any team can win on their day and looking at the ladder there are really only 2 teams you can't rate with a chance to get into the finals but the rest are still in with a chance but need to pull their fingers out now. A good team voodoo that breaks that idea is the rate the Raiders are able to beat the Dragons.

I think the main issue people have with the Broncos is that everyone thought that once they lost their messiah in Lockyer that they would turn to shit. However it never happened and they look as strong as ever with a very young but mentally mature team who have been grinding out wins very well.

Yep, hard to gauge where teams are especially during this part of the season.

Despite losing last week, Hook believes we improved on our performance against the Roosters and I'd have to agree with him. Hopefully with more of our Origin troops back we can come away with the win.

I just hope Souths are going to miss Burgess as much as I think they will. I thought he was enormous against us last time.

Hopefully Gillett pulls off another stormer too. Don't think I've ever seen him this down on confidence before.

You are correct not just with Broncos but Souths have also exceeded expectaions. Well anyway I apologise i wasn't saying anything bad against your team.

Don't apologise as I never took it that way. Just everyone has a Souths fans prospective but they always seem to be the warped, "we won the charity shield, so give us the NRL trophy" mindset.

We are exceeding expectations for sure. The culture is starting to change and Maguire is instilling a self belief that we haven't had since the late 80's if not the "Pride of the League" eras.

Twiz, do you know what the circumstances were re Dave Taylor leaving Souths for the Titans ? Must admit I didn't read too much about it at the time and while it was very much painted as Taylor wanting to go home ect, I thought I heard a rumbling or two that Michael McGuire wasn't too fussed on keeping him anyway (?)

well i wouldnt be surprised. it was around the same time that taylor was relegated to the bench.

I heard that Souths put an offer on the table and he didn't answer the offer in the time frame Maguire wanted, so Maguire withdrew the offer and shortly after he had signed with the Titans due to his wife wanted to be closer to home. Then all the Titans dramas came out and Maguire basically turned around and said there is no longer a place at the club for you now. I guess the story is in there somewhere.

Kinda sounds like how the Petero debacle went down at the Broncos in 2007. Except Taylor didn't command the loyalty that Petero deserved (and didn't receive) in that situation.

Wow, McGuire at lock. I reckon he will kill it there, even more so than he already does at prop

Hannant is supposedly in a bit of doubt as well. If Parker comes in I'd imagine he might start from the bench for Lui and McGuire stays at lock.

It's definitely an interesting prospect, will be watching to see how it goes.

I'd say that if Parker passes as fit, I think he'll play lock and McGuire drop back to the bench with Lui not getting a run. Will be interesting to see where McGuire is positioned during prop rotation?

Maybe when Civo goes off McGuire moves to prop with Teo coming on, then when Hannant goes off Teo moves into prop with Gillett coming on....

I'd expect Hodges and Reed to do a bit of damage against the rabbits centres if they get enough ball.

Of course McGuire will kill it at lock in our set-up.. He'll defend in the same place and now get to take the third hit-up. Effectively his role this weekend will be easier than what he is used to.

The best news about this is that it means Hook has canned the thought of playing Gillett in the middle. He's starting struggle and needs some managing. Smaller minutes in an edge role is a good move IMO.
