POST GAME [Round 17, 2022] Broncos vs Dragons

Finally some penalties and action for dog shots on ARey. I think the ref calling out was the difference in the end, they were just torched in the last 20.

I was very glad to see that. Looks like someone at the club (Donuts is my bet) reached out to the NRL and asked some questions after his rib injury and the treatment he got from the Titans.

That is just about the most valuable 2 points we will snag all season. Great second half.

3. Hoater
2. Staggs
1. Reynolds
Tell us you’ve got something against Tesi without telling us you’ve got something against Tesi. A few errors but he was easily our best out there lol

Nothing more to add the players already talked about but i thought hosking was great and walters put in a good performance to play 78 minutes with good intensity. Happy with all the players. Hope paix is okay

Tesi was great but he didn't have as much influence on the game as the 3 I mentioned, and don't lie to yourself if TMM becomes available during the week you'll be screaming for him to come back in.

LFG. How good is winning. Some shit tackling on that Suli try, but besides that, I loved it. Go boys.

Thought he was great too. I think he and hetherington can duke it out for motm

It seems teams have figured out the best way to play us is to pressure, rush, harass and rough up Reynolds.

It backfired on the Dragons tonight because Sims doesn’t have 2 brain cells to rub together but teams will continue to target Reynolds - especially when he’s not 100%.

We need to develop some strategies, formations and structures to do a better job protecting him, otherwise we won’t have him later in the year when it counts. This ESPECIALLY counts for second rowers who should be constantly in position to guard Reynolds and flatten anyone who tries to hit him hard…. Hetherington could certainly be that fiery enforcer / bodyguard we need, but it’s something the whole team needs to work on.

It’s not like coaches don’t try this obvious tactic on other clubs… but teams like Penrith are so successful at letting nobody get to Cleary - we need to be able to do the same.

I liked what I saw from Gamble in that roaming lock forward role.

I think we should be using him like that for the rest of the season. It allows us to keep Ezra at half and allows us to keep Gamble in the side who brings that energy and mongrel.

They won because Benny Hunt went full 2015 mode and made 3 infringements in the last moments of the game and the ref didn't have the courage to put him in the bin for it.
The score at half time was like 12-6 and raiders literally had a 60km/h wind behind them for the second half... BHunt may have got them over the line in the last seconds, but the fact that dragons won the field position battle in the second half was because of the pressure their defensive line put on the raiders.

They couldn't get a clean kick away in that second half and when you have Wighton with his massive boot and a 60km/h wind behind him that's telling.

Dragons didn't score enough in the first half, but then they came out and conceded one try in the second half... It's like a bowling attack in cricket being able to defend 180 in an ODI on a flat track

Speaking of Gamble, that forward pass he threw in the 2nd is one of the worst you'll ever see XD I was in stitches

It's probably true. I did question whether we'd benefit from Merge winning last game in a dodgy manner

There was on before that where it was passed to the lead runnerwho clearly wasn't expecting the ball, it was just okay though.
