I think people fail to realise we've been terrible defensively all year. The errors? all year. The lack of go forward? all year.

We haven't been close to this bad, and we haven't had many games with our full squad all year, it looks worse then it actually is but yes it is still bad.

Rant incoming:
If a line wasn't through the season already, it is now.

They are soft. They jog into the defence and get dominated. They defend with no line speed, and loss the collision, allowing quick play the balls and the opposition just makes massive metres each set.

They have no intensity, and don't want to do the hard work, or earn the right to do the attacking plays. Try these plays on the back foot and makes errors.

Again, we invested in "talent/potential", and have let workers go. Just like the dark times, clearly we didnt learn.

I would be happier with a bunch of QCup players that are less talented but at least put in.

You could see in the first 5 minutes who would win that game, solely by who ran harder.

I think I am done for the season, it's pathetic. Panthers 60+ next week.

We deserved that. Just plain dumb football. I'm surprised some of the Warriors forwards didn't start getting cramps they had to run that far before they hit our defensive line. I don't know what happened to Hetherington his hits in defence have virtually disappeared and his runs are sideways and pedestrian.

Baker is an outright dud. He just needs to be told he won't be getting another run and it's probably best to look elsewhere. There must be guys running around in Q Cup that would be better than Baker.

The dropped balls are just killing us. Mariner had a shocker and will see plenty of bombs from the riff next week. Has Cobbo played in a game this year where he hasn't lost the ball in attack? Someone also has to get in Cobbo's ear and remind him that he's no longer a winger and if he makes a break down the sideline and looks cornered just angle back into the infield and take the tackle instead of getting bundled into touch, again.

I thought Piakura showed a bit of ticker in this game and X man was easily our best forward on the field. Big Marty needs to go back on the bench in place of the dud that is Baker.

What on earth are you expecting here? We had about half of our cap out tonight lol. And an BR injured in the first 4 minutes. Craig Bellamy couldn't do anything with that tonight.

I don't think Bellamy would ever get himself into such a position. There's a reason he's one of the best coaches that's been. Storm is the best team of the last 2 decades.

It had been said but:

Madden & Sailor are cup players who can fill it for a game or two that’s it

They expected too much from Piakura. To play 80 next to a small quiet half and a new centre without any depth was a mistake

Mariner needs a break the game looks to quick for him and he is out of confidence

Baker was meant to be an astute purchase to ease the loss for some big names. That was a failure

Hetherington has not kicked on and don’t think he will now

We lost too much experience in the off season and we continue to try and play winners football with rookies. Season is done off season required sadly

Totally agree, and think others would too regardless of opinions on some mistakes Capewell made at the back end of last season.

We saw on Wednesday night what happens when QLD rolled with 2 poor second rowers vs NSW with 2 of the best in the competition.

We desperately need some help on the edges, especially with Cobbo still learning to play centre. Capewell has absolutely been a big loss, even jsut from a depth perspective.

As was alluded to in the roster thread, we should have some more players to choose from soon.

We need to drop Sailor and Baker permanently and forever, and Jestki is almost as useless and now injured.

Taupau was good, happy to keep him on the bench until he loses his head with dumb shit during a game, because it's when, not if with Marty.

Cobbo should always be permanent #2 fullback and Karapani can play centre/wing in his place when needed.

Give me a decent second-rower, another prop and two outside backs from our development/affiliates.

Don't be scared to give Mam a couple weeks off to see what Rogers and Madden can do together. He's been underwhelming to say the least so far

We need players to have fundamentals and drive to be able to win, not just flashy skill and hype but no brains

I'll be amazed if he is dropped, as the tries are obviously masking the general form.

We should be looking at getting Klese Haas and/ or Sitili for next year. Both of those players fill the role of the hybrid 2rf/ middle that we so desperately need. If we had Sitili this year I’d probably play him at 2rf over piakura tbh

We need to take a leaf out of the rorter’s book of axing players they don’t want and get rid of Baker, Paix, and Gosi.

Edit: even Wong from the chooks is a possible get. We picked up literally the worst depth rorter available in baker, my god is he trash

The set after the Willison try showed we can still do it.

Had some great runs from players running hard, straight up the middle, charging into the opposition and winning the contact and building momentum… then we made a stupid mistake instead of getting to the kick.

It’s not a talent or skill problem… it’s a desire and passion problem. This team doesn’t want it bad enough right now. They thought it would come easy after last year.
