POST GAME Round 17 - Broncos vs Storm

THE NRL will ask the Brisbane Broncos for an explanation as to whose mobile phone Josh McGuire was using in the dressing rooms during last week’s game against the Storm.
McGuire was forced from the field after just seven minutes following a heavy concussion and was ruled out of the remainder of the match.
Television cameras spotted him using a phone, sparking debate on social media about the rules of phones being used during games.
There are signs plastered across all dressing rooms saying phones are banned from one hour before matches until the final siren.
The measures were introduced to protect the integrity of the game.
The NRL is comfortable with injured players contacting friends and family if they are ruled out of matches, on the proviso they use a club official’s phone.
McGuire wasn’t the only one to catch the attention of fans. Another Broncos player was uploading videos to his social media page from the dressing rooms in the lead-up to the game.

Doesn't sound too serious. There's a piece about Paul White being off his meds in the same article.

Seriously, a player is ruled out of the game and he isn't allowed to use his own phone? What possibly could he do? Inform a bookie? Its illegal anyway. Ban bets mid game and the problem is solved. Are we seriously going to try and stop someone communicating information for the sake of betting and expect it to work?
If he wanted to he could just verbally tell someone else and they make the call. How could you trace it? Especially if they are not part of the club. Or tell someone to a tell someone. It doesn't take a genius to get around these things.

Plus if someone gets knocked out, I think it is pretty cruel to not let them tell family they are ok.

The stupidity of players got us to that point.
