Round 17 - Storm vs. Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Was it my eyes playing tricks or did anybody else see Hodges slot into a half or 5/8 on a couple of occasions on Friday night?

he did. a few set moves we havent seen before from the broncos. we actually tried a few nice things before we gave up and went back to usual rubbish.

Maranta needs to be replaced immediately especially since losing reed. Hoffmans tries will now be few and far between so we need someone to capitalize on the opportunities on the right. Don't know why they didn't try more plays with Gillett going for the line. Ala prince to Gillett a few games back. Glenn couldn't find the line either tonight although he was given no space. Don't know why we don't try to create some for him any more either. Oh and a repeat set sometime this season would be good. Maybe even a 40/20

This, and not just cos I'm a total Gillett fan.

For all the comments about our attacking abilities (with which I entirely agree are there) yet our failure to largely convert them into points (which is bleeding obvious) I cannot, simply CANNOT understand why it is so fucking hard for a coach and his playmakers to reproduce the plays which have clearly worked for us once, week in and week out like ALL the top sides do.

Yes, we work the left hand side repeatedly while we hold our breath hoping Norman will pass the ball, so that is one thing I suppose, but what about all the other creative set plays which have worked - like the Prince > Gillett move v Titans 1st game?

And yes, why not do the same with Glenn - which we also did use once when he scored out wide.

Why do we have to rely on Hannant to be in the team to do the very nice passing interchanges amongst the forwards?

This is what infuriates me as a fan more than anything - that we can do it, have done it, but won't do it with systematic, structured regularity.

At least we don't have Tamou, Scott and Thurston in our side which I guess makes the pain of our inconsistent, almost "we don't give a **** attitude" a little easier to bear.
