PRE-GAME Round 18 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

]
It might but FMD I wish Seibold would hurry up and find the right 17 for him because this constant shuffling of the deck chairs is getting real tiresome. Let the fucking team gel.
Injuries have played a big part. But I get what your saying....hard to achieve consistency while still your fielding different combinations week after week.
Will probably continue when the two halves are fit again. SOS or Dearden to half other one dropped to ISC. Turpin back to the bench and Seggy to ISC. Not the best in the short term. Now if we didn't have to accomodate Boyd or Macca all the pennies would fall into the right slots and we could have the makings of that consistency we badly need.

I think the broncos are concerned about hoppa, who has been in pretty good form. They may think glenn will manage to defend him better.

I dont mind glenn at centre for this purpose (and gives fifita more minutes on the field). Feel for farnworth though. I think he has performed really well.
Hoppa will probably play left centre for the dogs, I think Staggs will defend him.

Oh ok, i wasnt sure what side he played i just saw that he scored a try on the right side (attacking) last week and assumed.

If we are only going to play him for 3 minutes then it is a bit of a waste of an interchange.

Macca is so slow I doubt he would make it out to the middle of the field and back to the sideline to sub off within 3 minutes to be honest

1993 Preliminary Final 1993 another oustanding match against the Doggies

Check out Andrew Johns review of the match.
He also applauds the Milford-Boyd switch and has big wraps on Haas and Staggs.
Also stating that..."The forwards aren’t their issue. Seibold has some really tough decisions to make with their spine. Simply, they need an out-and-out halfback. I thought Sean O’Sullivan showed some really good signs against Cronulla until he did his hamstring."

I agree, SOS should return at half but that drops Turpin and Dearden out altogether for the rest of the year.

Yeah, I thought SOS showed some promise. He's made some poor mistakes too, but I'm still interested in seeing how he develops.

Plus his name is perfect for match threads when we are behind or the scores are tied.

Sully absolutely deserves another crack at the 7 no question....

But then Deardens back to reserve grade with Boyd seemingly unable to be moved out of the run non side...

and with Macca also seemingly unable to be moved then Turps or Seggy are out of the top 17...

These are hardly ideal situational moves for me...

The Glenn move is a good one and should have been done last week. Brisbane has got more depth in the forwards at the moment than outside backs.

remember how he monstered Sharks left edge in defence when he had to replace Shiba....

For sure he is nowhere near a attacking threat as a specialist centre but our issue has been our defense from the edge out on both side...he certainly can help fix that...

I'm also hearing Siebs wants to 'rest' Fifitas as he was in all 3 games through origin...which kinda makes sense if he had been playing 80 minutes a game prior to SOO1.....instead his minutes were exactly the same...

SoS would be a good long Term 6 I don't see him as a 7 Due to his kicking, but maybe he can work on that.

Is kicking what decides between a 6 and a 7? Milford was doing most of the kicking play in the 6 jersey when Kodi was in the 7.

The numbers seem very interchangeable these days, but SOS still strikes me more as a genuine halfback, just like Johns said. His kicking hasn't been great, but he seems to play more infield than other halves and has been getting the ball on both sides of the ruck. He seems like more of an organiser too, he just needs to side to buy into it as time goes on.

The Broncs have a problem at centre with Bird out, so Boyd doesn't have to stay in the halves.

Exactly! With our issues in the 3/4s at the moment, it is the ideal time to shove Darius out there, where he will be most useful to us, and avoid the shame of dumping the Broncos captain to reggies...

Milford was the Game manager when he was at 6 but he can kick, if you can't Kick you can't game manage.

Milford like Lockyer was a 6 playing as a 7(The term being the 7 is the game managing half and the 6 is the instinct half).

Hope that clears up what I mean, he can wear what ever number he likes but generally it's accepted if your the game managing half your playing as a 7( even though in the modern game the 6 and 7 swap jerseys depending on the team).

I do see how SoS with his ball play can be a Genuine play maker but without the kicking game your not a proper game manager, not saying the kicking game can't be developed though it certainly can.
