I think the issue tonight was the gameplan.

We played far too conservatively compared to the previous two matches.

I remember at least one good kick from him and for most of the game he looked the only one close to breaking the line. Poked his nose through a few times. I've seen a lot worse. I do agree though half your kicks were shit.

There were a couple of times there he could have got a pass away to a support runner when poking his nose through but he decided not to.

He needs to start looking at doing that. Have Niu run off him looking for that opportunity.

Flegler ran for 150m, I'm pretty fucking surprised.

Of course there was a game where he can for 180 2 years ago and that was before his bone headed mistakes started being a common occurrence, so it definitely wasn't his best.

We looked good when we decided to play a bit of footy. I thought Kennedy got us going when he came on and Hetherington looked decent at dummy half also. Was keen to see Paix for another stint. He looked way better than Turpin.

To be honest. I'm pretty happy with the effort. Still a couple of defensive issues and the halves struggled, but Penrith were allowed to stand in our backline all night and got given leg ups when needed by a corrupt **** of a referee.
Yep I was watching the Penrith defence in a few of the long shots and they were leaving the line before the ball had hit the ground in the play the ball. A penalty every day of the week except when we get Cummins.

Going to get roasted from what I've read off this thread so far but I thought Croft played decent enough tbh. Maybe my expectations of him are seriously low?

In Croft standards......you're right. Not too bad a game. Totally ineffective, but tried hard.

In NRL standards.....no, he's falling well short of being a competent half.

Didn't think Flegler was that bad. His involvement was a good....

Same ole same ole.......a period of 10-15mins of shit defence.....cost us the game.
We're still such a long way away from being a force.

Yes and no for mine, if we were playing conservatively we would of taken the 2 points to equal things, but knew we had to go for more points.

Most other teams in our position ( so basically the Bulldogs) would of taken the two I'd say.

However in saying that, you're right with ball in hand and finishing our sets we were the definition of "playing it safe".

Sigh.

I think we would be the only team in the comp that doesn't have a fullback sweep to create an overlap.
Herbies never given the ball in a position to even think of passing to Oates.
Staggs doesn't get the ball enough, Gamble was screaming for it and croft dummied and cut back inside.
Paix and Hetheringtin looked alot better than Turpin.
Bullemor needs to be in the 17 every week, he could easily become Haas's partner in crime.
I thought Issako looked dangerous with the ball.
Nui isn't our fullback
Our attack is like watching under 11s.

I only caught the last 10mins, what happened to Turpin & Paix? Hetherington showed he is definitely not a 9.

Flegler is screwed, media saying it should have been a send off means the MRC will predictably overcompensate and rub him out for a long time.

Croft is garbage, might as well play a forward at HB, he doesn’t create anything.

The upside is that Flegler spending time out will benefit us.

****. Off.

I cannot fucking believe we let Lodge go, let alone are paying him to play for another club. Just utterly braindead but not the least bit surprising.
Did you catch Lodge today. He was as bad if not worse. At least we know that flegs isn't on close to a mil dishing out shit. Flags needs a lot of work that is for sure.

Overall I was happy we hung in the way we did, our spine is awful. Turpins passing and offensive game is not upto standard. our defense kept us in the fight for once. But I feel Kev should of used Kennedy a lot sooner, the game in the first half was just begging for some second phase and him coming on opened up the game for our tries in the second. Also as soon as he came into the game Payne started dominating. Fleg is not a good support for Payne as a starter. Kev also needs a rocket for not putting Bull on sooner. I struggle to see his persistence with Fleg over these two.

I wonder if changes will be made this week. The spine has been a huge issue all year and Kev seems to want to stick now so who knows. But I personally would bring Kelly back in and Gamble to 7. The 9 can't be fixed with what we have. Paix was ok but I feel he was going to fast and not thinking, he needs more time to settle in but looks like he Is injured, so unlikely to get there this year.

Sad with another loss but in all it was a step forward.

This.

For anything good Gamble and Croft did, it wasn't anything to do with footie IQ. So many wrong options, andt poorly executed as well.

Staggs and Herbie mostly just run the ball back with defenders all over them.

Reynolds alone will make such an enormous difference to this team.

Went to the game
Couple of notes
Riki can’t play 80. Was gassed majorly in the second half
All Croft does is throw shit passes and dummies that fool no one. Pick someone else
Turpin was rubbish. Looked a lot better with hethrington and Paix at 9
**** me haas carried this team
Billy Walters was running the balls in the tigers game in front of us and confirmed he has signed a one year deal for next year. Looked pretty happy telling us to. Him and Zac cini were laughing at brooks and his shitness

Oates was fine apart from the dropped pick up. He just doesn’t get enough ball in position to do anything good.
This. I don't understand the hate on him in the thread, apart from the error he was good. The rushing in is clearly a defensive tactic as literally every winger has done it, they expect the winger to hit the ball and slide cover. You'd think they'd change after it failing all year.

Wow.

Croft, Turpin and Gamble were all fucking horrible. Croft just can't be picked again, Turpin I thought was concussed early in the game but didn't come off and Gamble was almost allergic to passing it to Staggs. Same can be said for Herbie, he is quickly convincing me he is only a winger. People complain about Oates not scoring tries, but how can he when his winger is blind in his left eye.

Bullemor again showing Kevvie has no fucking clue when it comes to picking his best 17.

100%
I think even with Kelly in the halves we win that game.
Reynolds with Capewell knowing which lines to run will be massive, a backorder running the right lines will free up our centres and wingers.

As if Billy Walters has any right to laugh at anyone.
