POST GAME [Round 19, 2022] Broncos vs Eels

Just watched the highlights and it struck me how many times King Gutho fucked up.

Couldnt clean up the grubber for Oates try. Got brushed by Payne for his try. Was too slow to come across on Capewell's try. Got beaten by Riki. And of course the loose carry for Reynolds try.

"King" indeed
The guys a cat. Always running sideways. It was so good to Staggs smash him and force the error that lead to AReys try

I like your argument .
He did look absolutely gassed when he came off last week though . Anaerobic and aerobic fitness balance can be an interesting juggle .
I believe Tyson used a lot more grunt last week because he played as a middle and ran the ball more than he usually does . Wore him out more .

Usually the knock on call comes when the ball carrier is passing and gets tackled .
Gutherson just didn`t hold the ball tight enough . Kotono hit it ,but last contact was by Gutherson . Play on .

Oh @McHunt the Broncos were penalised last night for obstructing the kick chase .
Your pet the last cpl of weeks .
No one is talking about that but ?
Frikin Waqa Blake was running a brothel last night he had so many escorts down Staggs’ side. Of course the ref and touchies didn’t see anything….

**** I love that they sing the old song.

When they've sung the new song over the last few years it's been such a dour mood and half of them don't seem to know the words... but it seems like they're just waiting for the real song to be sung, which is great.

I'd imagine that was definitely a Kevvie / Alf initiative to get them singing the old song.
Our new song is an insult to people with ears. By far the worst team song in any sport.

I’ve seen plenty of loose carry decisions before. I’ve seen plenty where the player making the tackle touches the ball with the arm/hand and it being called back for a knock on even when not playing at the ball. I can’t say I’ve seen one of them let go before last night.
I've seen plenty that have this as a common theme, guy's hand while making the tackle contacts the ball which is still being held (possession) and then possession is lost. The attacker has the last contact with the ball and not the defenders hand, it's simply a loose carry and play on, it makes no difference which way the ball travels in this instance.

heres an interesting stat from last nights game

Tackled In Opp 20: (Eels 42 | Broncos 24)
This is a silly stat. The good teams don't need 42 tackles in the oppositions 20 to score plenty of points. This just says our goal line defence was good, and our attack was good.
What happens if no one touches the player lying on the ground in a voluntary tackle?
Maybe we should just stand there over them without touching them until they stand up and THEN smash them. Hitting somebody while they lie on the ground is a dog shot. It's not really any different from hitting a halfback late and should be counted as a penalty similar to a flop.
