POST GAME Round 19 - Broncos vs Panthers

Fantastic first half, nice to see us take advantage of our opportunities for once. Could see that second half coming. It’s hard to keep that momentum. We switched off, and it’s something we need to work on. I say if TPJ plays they don’t score at least one of those.

Getting our attack clicking, confidence in our ability and Milf’s kicking are what we should take away from that. Other than that, it’s 2pts and good PD boost

(And a giant finger to Griffin and Gould)

Towards the middle of the second half our backline defence got a good work over. Exactly what they needed to get the new combinations understanding each other. Looks like TPJ got injured again though. Hope he's right for next week. Come on Gillo we're getting so close to really needing you.

Matt Lodge, in his first season back, still at 22, is probably the best front rower we've had since Civo. Only McGuire at his best came close.

Get a load of this from over at LU

Lmao
It took me a while to even realise who and what he was talking about haha. Is he insinuating the game was still on at 44-18 with 5 mins to play? Lol salty fellow

If Isaako is okay then he'll be at fullback for a while. He played very well there and Boyd lokked happier. I'd say Boyd was able to direct them a little better from centre.

Overall a really good performance with a few things to work on. I wrote last week that this week would show how we're going and I for one am happy with our improvement and attitude. On to next week and hopefully we start with the right mind set, not thinking we can score on every set. I'd like to see us win Cronulla style, a grind.

What's everyone's verdict on Boyd and isaako position changes? Will bennett stick with it?
This game was too atypical to pass judgement. Certainly nobody looked worse in their new position, but us piling on all those early points put the Panthers into a perpetual state of desperate second phase play and us into a conservative cocoon. And I wouldn't say the points we put on early were due to Boyd, Isaako or Kahu. We'll know more when we next play a grinding game, probably against the Sharks.

Only caught second half, I thought Isaako was close to our best, thoughts?

As for falling off the pace in the 2nd half, yes it is not acceptable, and we realllllly need to get this cue in the rack shit sorted, but at least one of those tries you can put right at the feet of Kahu. He can't defend worth shit, and with the quality players we've got up his ass, and Bird struggling to even find a position in the side, he really needs to get it sorted and fast.

He was OK, I didn't think he was particularly outstanding. Didn't trouble much with his runs, but was solid in defence. Some of the forwards and Nikorima were certainly better IMO.

Great under the high ball, a bit off the mark attack wise but that was to be expected because he isn't used to the plays. Positioning was a bit off a few times there.

He had a good game at the back overall.

I'm not getting carried away with that effort. The defence in the 2nd half, when the Panthers threw the ball around and ran it hard at angles and with support - our defence was utter garbage and against a class side we will get smacked if we defend like that rubbish

Yes, a win's a win but the Panthers were crap for 60 mins

We also matched them in points......i'll take that against another top 4-6 side.

Yeah I just saw him make two try savers on kikau (****...that) and stopped a very promising play dead when he tackled cleary
