POST GAME [Round 2, 2022] Bulldogs vs Broncos

What about the effort to stop tpj from scoring near the end. I thought for all money he was in and I don’t think I could handle a golden point game already.
Not to mention JAC on the very last play of the game. He and Dufty were popping up all night and full credit to the defensive crew to keep them scoreless.

It was a terrific game, a bizarre game. The Dogs thoroughly outplayed us and totally deserved to win. But RL doesn't work that way and these two wins could come in handy when sniffing out a playoff spot in September.

Suppose he thought the penalty against Carrigan for the late hit was the correct call too 😂
That was a fucking joke penalty. Only reason the bunker didn't overturn that was the ref boss would have his fucking arse in a sling for making the onfield ref look like an absolute arsehat. He even held him up so he didn't smash his head into the turf. Talk about the opposite of the intent to hurt the bloke.

I love that Barrett blamed the ref, count them out as being important this year because it doesn’t require accountability of the playing group.

It was a high quality game from some of the other rubbish dished up this season so far. We are legit a team to be reckoned with. No one is going to look forward to playing us, what amazing improvement. Full credit to Kevvie.

It also needs to be said, Cobbo was pretty average tonight

He made some tough carries but his ball handling was pretty ordinary
I hope the coaching staff talk to him about his tendency to bolt out of the defensive line to try and take someone out. Problem is he keeps missing and leaving us short.

On first viewing, I thought James was really underwhelming, but I will reserve my opinion until I have watched the game again.
I've closely watched James's contribution tonight and my conclusion? Kw has a crack pipe and he smashed( loaded it !) it before the presser!! James did absolutely **** all. I think he made 11 maybe 12 tackles and I guess ran for about 12-15 metres.

I just didn't see anything that deserved a mention. Okay, I have been drinking heavily and could easily be wrong and will apologise tomorrow in the cold hard light of day if I am but fucked if I could see what he brought to the table.

I know 'talk' apparently is highly valued here on the forum and maybe that's what I missed but I think I'd rather Flegler and some real go forward.

Credit to the Dogs they were far from shit tonight. They lacked some polish in the attacking 20m but our defence was a big reason for that. Their forwards where tough and did a great job and we should get slot of credit for our win. I thought Marshall King has been quite impressive the last two weeks. Maybe they should have bought a number 6 rather than Mahoney.

I do agree somewhat.. if your going on stats and the noticeable things his effort has been pretty piss poor. I haven't watched him close enough to see the things he does off the ball and the things that don't get picked up unless your out there next to him but we're not leaking points when he's out on the field which is a good thing and what he's there for is working.
I think Flegs will come into play next week at the expense of TC and that will give us the go forward off the bench.

Absolutely swear I've not looked at stats. I just watched him closely on the replay and made my call. As soon as I finish writing this I'm going to check nrl stats but I just saw very very basic tackles and and two pisspoor hitups.

Ryan James is in the team for his experience, that's basically the message I got from what Kevvie had to say in the presser

We can criticise him and compare to who wasn't selected for as long as we want but he does have something that the squad as a whole is lacking, that being experience

Let's get it boys. So good to see. Glad reyno is getting amongst it as well. Looks like he's fitting in well.

I know It's easy to say whole you're winning. But can definitely feel the change in the air in terms of culture & mentality etc.

Barrett’s comments in the presser about how he might now teach his players to dive has to be one of the softest comments by an NRL coach in a long time.

How about you teach them to win games when they have 60% possession and almost 100% of the fifty-fifty calls from the officials.

This open admission of a weak character is obviously reflected in his team. That presser and they way he whinged was a full on embarrassment to his club.

Your team was shit and need to learn how to finish a set properly FFS! Own it!

Another huge win for the boys.

We didn’t look as good as we did last week, and the Dogs were in the thick of this due to a lot of errors and the refs more than the Dogs actually being good.

Regardless, these are the sorts of games you need to win in the NRL, and finding a way to pull off a victory with ~41% possession is in a lot of ways more encouraging than blowing the dogs off the park.

I thought Reynolds was immense, some huge defensive efforts at the death when he could barely walk shows me that he isn’t just here for a retirement tour and a paycheck - he really cares and will give it everything at the Broncos.

Kelly, Haas and Farnworth also fantastic tonight.

James was ineffective and should make way for Flegler once he is fit - experience or not. Staggs needs to improve quickly… an elite centre does not drop balls over the line and no amount of ‘rust’ accounts for that - that’s just attitude and concentration.. hope he sorts it out quickly.

I see alot bashing Turpin, and while I agree his is pedestrian in attack and his service can be erratic, he gives his all in the middle of the field showing up to make key tackles multiple times in each of the last 2 games. His tenacity, dedication and spirit is exactly what this team needs and I don’t think we are 2/2 without him in the middle. There may be better options in time, but right now Turps deserves more recognition… let him play that role and then let Billy come on and turn on the attacking flair.
