I want us to be confident heading into next week as I think we can improve and build on last night however, hopefully this team doesn’t get too ahead of themselves.
Yes it was a great win last night and they deserve to enjoy it, but it’s round 1. We all know what happened last year when the squad thought they were a top 4 side, we crashed out of the 8.
It’s a fine line and hopefully we have learnt lessons from the last few years. If we can back it up and improve over the Cows next week, then we will set ourselves up nicely.
Our defence was on last night, hopefully we can set that as our standard and if so, we will certainly win a lot more then we lose.

Those times he went out were due to being mobbed by Penrith's defence in slippery conditions. Not much he could've done in the situation other than not be there.

The rain played a massive part in the errors last night. Unsure if it explains why Herbie got stripped but certainly Oates spilling it when he hit the deck. I thought we did pretty damn well to hang in there.

Thats the thing, though. If your first reaction in slippery conditions is to run towards the sideline with sliding defence travelling that same way, then you may not be assessing the situation at all.

I tend to agree, it was just a lack of experience on his part IMO. I'll let him have one but the second time he should have learned from the first. Slippery conditions, they're swamping me every time I get the ball should equal cut back in, not try and run around them.

TBH, by that stage I'd had a few Ardbegs so could be mistaken.
