POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Warriors

Thought Sam made a real impact off the bench .Glen and Gillett both going better then last year. Backs are a bit rusty . Hunt has not really hit his straps yet. Milford is going very well but possibly could work on his passing game a bit more. Oates is just great and certainly should be in the mix for origin.

Sheck's fall from grace could come quickly if he doesn't find some form. What is it about the Warriors that has made him go into his shell this much? The expectation?

Warriors style of play may not suit him? he may not be fitting in with his new teammates? may not be mentally switched on? the reason is unknown. I'm praying that RTS doesn't fall and become the shadow that he was at the Roosters. He is one of my favorite players. It's still very early in the season so he might need some time.

The Warriors showed up to play but just weren't good enough for long enough. Injuries didn't help them but the Broncos were grinding them out of the game before that. I can't believe the have Jeff Robson in their team. For the Broncos it was the Milford show really. He is special. That said I think as a team they are far too Milford orientated at the moment. Go to the right where you can use Gillett, Roberts and Hunt a bit more. They can play too. Josh McGuire is a beast. Darius Boyd has been so good.

It's all mostly been said, I'd just like to add that we were solid, without being very good and still never looked in trouble of losing the game.

Gotta give a special mention to Gillett. Played 80 mins, topped the tackle count with 43 (missed 1), scored a try and hit HARD in defence. Bennett has completely turned him around as a player. So good to see.

So, what are people's thoughts and opinions on the extended time Nikorima had last night? He handled it with a fair level of confidence and distributed the ball pretty well and added a bit of pace to the game. Certainly no replacement for Macca defensively, but it was interesting to see him on for such a long stint. Was this just an interchange option experiment or was there an issue with our 9? Or did I just dream he was on for longer than normal?

I thought it was a really ill-disciplined performance from the boys, lots of really soft errors and defensive lapses. Hunt played pretty poorly in the first 55 minutes or so, started to get a bit of direction back towards the end, but overall another below average performance from the little general.

Milford carried the load in terms of creativity, proving time and time again that he's the real deal. Massive game from all of the forwards, can't fault any of them, Gillett, Glenn, McGuire, Parker, Blair. All very good. Great game again from Oates & Boyd, good return by Reed as well.

Hopefully Oates' shoulder injury isn't too bad.

That Boyd try sums up why Roberts is valuable to have even when he is barely getting any chances. His opposite number is so scared shitless about marking up on him that they leave a swaying gate wide open for the likes of Boyd to stroll in and score. Boyd could do that all day if he wanted with Roberts in the 4. He would get through 80% of the time.

I think he handled the extra time fine and we actually started to get on the front foot from his time on. May have just coincided with warriors fatigue but it was a definite change. Not sure if macca saw it as a challenge but he came back with more of a running game as well but imo not as effective as nik.

Parker only played 50 minutes last night... You'd think he'd need to be on the field more for the tougher games... Thaiday only played 40 as well... Guess it could just be Bennett experimenting

This. Like when we had Folau and Hodges on one side, the defence was always stacked and consequently our left side (including the one and only Stevie Michaels) scored more tries.

Now I know we were never going to be beaten with 5 to go, but if we're going to practise field goals, surely we practise some trick shots in going for a try? Everyone loves a grandstand finish, but more importantly if we're down by a try with 5 to go later in the season.
