PRE-GAME Round 20 - Broncos vs Storm

How the hell Flegler is making lock over Joffa or Patty is beyond me.

Not to mention that he provides better impact off the bench than both of them as well. It just makes way more sense to start one of those 2 guys at Lock..

Seibold must just really rate him. I personally don't, yet. At least him starting at Lock over Carrigan who is a specialist.

I doubt this is the case but I'm HOPING that Seibold has correctly identified that the Melbourne pack got comfortably rolled by Manly which led to their win, and I think it's fair to say our pack shits all over theirs from a great height even without TPJ, so maybe Fleglers addition early is an intentional move to use the home ground advantage to monster the Storm pack early and hard and get them on the back foot from the outset.

That's what I would do at least.

I’m going to this game, I have never witnessed the broncos defeat the Storm live. That’s a 0% broncos victory where I’ve been in attendance since 2006. (Didn’t make it to the GF).

Feel free to blame me alongside the other usual suspects.

Our defence is the key to this game and to not let them get into our heads.

We've seen our boy's heads drop (due to experience) this year when the going gets tough.

We need to be the first to score. Two try buffer is ideal. I can’t see us playing catch up if storm go 12-16 points up

Round 24 2012 game up on Kayo in the Rugby League Classics section.

I still can't believe that Waqa try was given. It was a clear as day knock on. Even Waqa was surprised it was given. Tim Mander was the video ref.

We would have won if that wasn't awarded.

Pretty much the best side we could name all things considered. Could probably slide Offa into starting lock but I like the work he does when he comes on and Haas or Lodge are off the field. I think it gives us a good balance of experience in the forwards throughout the game.

Glenn in the centres has definitely made us seem more defensively sound. It’s just how many points we can score without TPJ.

I think we are a chance. Looking to see Milf to continue building at fullback.

I think seibs likes flegler to start with that impact for about the first 20.

i think he keeps ofa on the bench to keep some experience on the field when our starting middle forwards come off and reserves come on.

Based upon seib's press conference last week, he has identified that carrigan plays well doing big minutes. So he may keep him at lock after flegler comes off until maybe until last 10-15 mins or so?

is Staggs on the left now..??? no3 is usually left centre yeh..??

Is Glenn marking up on Chambers or something..??

I don’t know how far back it goes back the broncos have named their centres swapped for as long as I can remember. No idea why. Hodges was always named on the left but would play in the right.

I just dont see Tommy having a big enough motor right now to be more than a high impact bench forward, which i think is actually an essential role.

That team looks pretty good to me. Flegler has worked hard for that spot and he's got some footwork and pace for a big guy.

I'm looking forward to seeing what that right edge can do with Kotoni improving every match, Isaako finding his form again and with Milf roaming out there too. Gillette will keep that side tight in defense.

Storm's starts haven't been great lately, the backend of halves is when they are at their best.

Ofahengaue and Carrigan on the bench brings experience and cool heads during that period. Something Flegler does not provide.

If he is in the reserves, he is more than likely to start.
Turpin will be omitted from the 17, Tommy Dearden to starting halfback.

To me Seibs plays Flegler as a third prop and I believe he's first off at 20mins... Lodge and Payne play through to at least 30min mark for their first stint regularly.

Offa on for Flegs after 20
Carrigan on for Lodge (likely) after 25-30
Kennedy on for Payne late first half or early second half

Flegs back for last 20-25mins
Payne back at 50min mark
Lodge back around 50-55min mark

Kennedy gets the least minutes followed by Flegs, Carrigan or Offa depending on who is going best.

I think Seibs is easing Carrigan into first grade... he played him for +60mins last week suggesting he may want him as the lock moving forward.

I like Carrigan's work off the bench as well... even though he's undersized he does a great job getting between tacklers and I rarely see him get driven back.

I've said before but he reminds me of a Murray Lite... he's no where near the calibre of Murray yet (who I consider maybe the best lock running around at the moment along with Jurbo (excluded Lolo as he's more of a prop than a lock to me)), but his running style reminds me of Murray and he would have one of the quicker ptb's in our pack.
