POST GAME Round 20 - Broncos vs Storm

Understand your pissed but it's been stated that Broncos heiracy expected a lean year. Even most of the seibold fanboys were saying they were happy for a few lean years, instead of just making the finals and bowing out early. Funny how when it actually happens they don't like it anymore. Anyhow can't expect to much from a young side, and no halves
I'm probably what you'd deem a seibold "fan boy". You're acting like these losses to the storm are something that hasnt been happening regularly until seibold came along. This loss was bad but it changes nothing. Unlike the Bennett fan boys I have patience, I get frustrated and hate losing of course. But I am willing to stick by the clubs decisions with a few lean years if it means getting out of the rutt we were in.

There are no doubt fan boys of Bennett and Seibs. I'd like to think I'm in the middle. There is no doubt we didnt achieve what we aimed for under Bennetts las term, but at the same time, we have made a mess of this year and we have gone backwards. That was a far worse performance last night that that Dragons game from last year. Both coaches have made errors and at times big ones, i dont think thats really debatable.

We have decimated our roster, let some decent players go and the proof of the pudding will be next year if it pays off. At the moment, we are flat track bullies and we look a bit clueless at times with our game plan. For me, i'm thinking we should give Seibs the first 10 games next year then look at things, unless this year finishes on a bit of a collapse, then i'd just boot him because i dont see that as acceptable.

Biggest mistake we made this year i still think was letting go of Moose.

I was thinking this just this morning. I was never a big fan and supported him being let go but in retrospect I think it was a massive blunder. He was obviously more important to our team than I gave him credit for.

It was pathetic. 5 hit ups and a useless bomb. We finally started some offloads & we score.

Cam Smith master class. I was with our Storm friends and he hates Croft the way we hate Macca/Boyd....inside I was thinking how much I’d kill for a half with a qtr of Croft’s skill 🙄

I tried to teach my son a valuable lesson - when mum says it’s not fun going to the game and watching your team lose by 50 she knows what she’s talking about.....the boy replied this morning “but we only lost by 40!” 😐 ffs.

We still used to get our arses handed to the us even with Moose in the side. It's a lack of cohesion and group effort that was our issue with Bennett and still lingers with Seibs.

He wants to start by telling Boyd to take the rest of the season off to think hard about his future as the way he's playing he's more of a liability than a leader.

Siebs needs to make the same call Benny did with Wally and give him the tap on the shoulder.

Benny didn’t give Wally the tap he just moved him to lock in his final year to make way for kevvie.
Then the broncos made him a low ball offer with his next contract so he didn’t have much choice but to leave.

What I saw last night at the game was a bunch of largely inexperienced kids up against a big and fast well drilled Rugby League team fine tuning for a grand final appearance.

Make no mistake, this is directly the result of a decade of incompetence by our recruitment and retention department nothing more. We either sit back and wait till experience is gained or go to the market and buy some.

Preferably sourced by our 'new' recruitment and retention department.
What you mean the fact that the club has assembled one of the best young forward packs in the comp , and had 4 of the best young halves and some great young backs isn't a great job.
They said they are going with youth , we where never going to be competitive this year. We win some easy games and then get belted by the best team in the comp , and the dummies and toys get thrown out of the cot ....

When and how was it said?
At about RD5 and was mentioned that they weren't expecting to much. Youngsters, players getting moved on and positions getting sorted. It's a transition year , that's why they wanted Bennett gone so it could start sooner rather than later. If it works well, we will just have to wait I guess.

Some really good points by everyone but I don't think we've gotten to the core of it. There's no other team in the NRL that we consistently lose to and we beat the roosters already this season. Everytime we get flogged by the storm I see the same reaction about how far below the benchmark we are but it's just not really the case. We are not that far behind the rest of the top 8 but for some reason we cannot beat the storm. People talk about last year's dismal loss to the dragons in sept, but remember the year before when storm belted us 30-0 in the prelims or 46-12 earlier that year. And every other year even when we were beating roosters, sharks, cowboys and other teams that were doing well. They just absolutely have our measure.

Placed in the Buzz Rothfield rumour category then.
You can think what you like, it's why I haven't invested in this season. I rarely watch games because I get worked up. But you can think what you want.

I had the same view considering the amount he was supposedly in the cap for and the fact we had to look at upgrading and resigning some players coming off contract this year.

In hindsight though, we were better off trying to find Gillett a new home and not McGuire, although the Cowboys had made a big offer for McGuire so that probably played a part but Gillett is cooked.

Even pre neck injury he barely offers anything in attack anymore and when he does get put into a hole every once in a while he drops it more often than not. It’s only his defense and kick pressure that covered up his lack of attack. He is just a tackling workhorse these days and probably offers as much as Macca could at lock. The neck injury has taken out some of his defensive starch out too which is understandable but has taken away the only great part of game.

And now every week it’s either a groin or a back niggling injury now. We are already throwing $700k down the drain with Bird on the side lines. I reckon the only reason Gillett hasn’t been lambasted as much as Macca and Boyd is because he doesn’t play in the spine and the fact he played Origin this year papers over what he is actually providing.

Was this supposed to be an insult?
Maybe you should watch more world sport and then you will find it's commonplace. Who even watches Ch 9 these days? You, no doubt.
I agree with Tom: the sports anchors might be amateurish, but the ads are fucking great. How else would you know that at Bunnings, lowest prices are just the beginning?

I never expected us to score many points having the spine we put out that we did against a defensive juggernaut like Melbourne so that explains our attack. We can’t expect much until we actually get some halves back and have people playing in their right positions.

It’s our edge defense that is a very big cause of concern and has been for a while.

Storm just used shift plays at speed and we looked like we had never trained against something like that in the players entire careers. Was like a hot knife through butter. We can blame combinations all we like but it was inexcusable how easy they were finding space just by moving the ball. Is Ben across our defense coach?

I'm not saying it's a seibold thing and I also hate losing . I think Bellamy makes it very personal against us and he is the best, so it's always going to be hard.
