We were schooled in finals footy today. They spent most of the first half defending their line and only conceded one lucky try to us, then punished us when we made mistakes. 20 points doesn't reflect the difference between the teams tonight. Cam Smith was from a different planet though! :shake:

Granted, our backs weren't very good, with the exception of Hoffman and Yow Yeh.
Hodges normally has much better vision and still looks rusty, while Reed was disappointing and Beale... Better not say anything, or Beads might cry.
The halves played quite well, very good kicking game, pinning the Storm down their end and punishing Slater continuously.
The forwards were dominant and it's too bad we made a few too many mistakes (Anderson, I'm looking at you), because we should have had a lead at half time.

More unhappy with the score line, than the game we played really...

3- Parker
2- Hannant
1- Hoffman

If you want to beat them you have to copy their tackling method, two up top wrapping up the ball and one taking the legs to slow down the play the ball.

It's round 20, if our attack doesn't come together in the next few weeks then I'll be worried.

I thought that they attacked our left side edge with great success, both Wallace and Reed have to come off their line. In attack we need Hodges to get back to his silky best, and our fringe forwards need a bit more offloading in them, hopefully Te'o will be back, I'd have Carlaw in for Dodds.

It will be interesting to see how we go for the next couple of games, we have to keep building for our next encounter.

Watching the highlights, I thought Yow Yeh was told not to shoot out of the line again - Lockyer had to cover for him when Nielsen went over.

We have nothing in attack to trouble the top sides. Nothing. Nix. Bugger all. Tonight was basically one out running. Over and over. No width. No depth. No clever inside or outside balls to players on the run.

Our backs weren't bad. They didn't get any quality ball. Thaiday is now so predictable. The one out running by Glenn so predictable. Where were the smart grubbers behind the defence?

BORING

Just a twinge of the hamstring I believe.

Should be fine.

No boring is the NRL allowing melbourne to lay in the play the ball like a ****ing prostitute but penalizing anyteam that tries the same..

The Nrl is a ****ing joke

Yow didn't shoot out but he was just caught up defending and locky covered, no big deal unless you need someone to blame..

This game gives us so much to work on and can only be good for our side. Basic things weren't done right tonight. Amazing how every kick Lockyer and Wallace put through they were put on there backs while crank has all the time in the world to kick. You don't beat the storm through the ruck so why the short balls back into the markers? Reed had an off not just couldn't handle Blair. Hoffman was our only good player last night everyone else was average IMO

Did anyone else think, Hodges was having words with Yow Yeh, after Hodges passed the ball to him & it went over the sideline.

Great effort overall I thought, but one out running doesn't score points against the top sides. We have to bring more to the table in attack. Also when we do create something you can't have Hodges hogging the ball, it was so important in the context of that game to hit back early. So tired of his greedy attitude.

No that happened right in front of me.

A loss this time of the season is not a bad thing particularly when you're safe in the top 4 for the week. I thought Wallace had a pretty ordinary game. It was a shame McCullough was taken off so early he seemed to be making some really good decisions.

Safe in the top 4. Ca't we drop to 6th based on Cowboys and Warriors?
