Round 20 - Storm vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

It felt like the ref's were waiting for the 3rd man in Storm player before they yelled HELLLLD. A few times Thaiday, Gillett & Hodges were on their feet and the ref wouldn't blow held until that 3rd man in. It really shat me off.

*i posted this before i read any of this thread. This is the bug I got from the game.

They do that because there's a "chance" while the player is standing they might get arms free and pop an offload.

Dare I say it, it might be effective against Storm to go to ground as soon as you're tackled. Almost dive at the ground...Especially if you can do it without earning the "surrendaaaaaaaahhhhh" call.

or frigging offload. sometimes offloading is the only way to make a linebreak. against the storm it appears that way.

Maybe we have an attack that suits the Storms style of D like a lot of teams. Dummy half runs or one off runs just play into their plans. I mean if they are going to have 3 in the tackle and pack either side of the play the ball then there must be gaps out wider with a well thought out tactic. We should be going long pass or two wide and forcing a hard slide and moving them around a lot more.
I can't wait for the Manly game because they will do plenty to test them on the fringes.

We had them stretched once or twice in the first half on their line and some good lead up work was ruined when Hodges got the ball. He totally ignored an unmarked Yow Yeh who would of scored for sure. I think Hook has been focussing the team on getting into the grind and not going for the big plays or easy options. We really did look disjointed at times whereas the Storm were making breaks everywhere early on. Still satisfied with the way we played, regardless of the score we more than matched it with the Storm and we have alot of improvement in us. Attack must sharpen up in the next couple of weeks

I've said it before, but I still think the biggest thing we have to watch for when playing the Storm is Cam Smith. Markers must be quick and alert, otherwise he'll destroy us once again.

Our marker defense is and has always been ordinary. The storm markers were brilliant as usual. Cam smith will probably go down as the best hooker ever, he is so hard to stop no matter what you do
