Round 20 - Titans vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

I think every thing has been covered here, seriously poor effort tonight. Had the feeling from the first 5mins that we didn't come to play. No point blaming one player, the whole team was well below par. Is this ours season? Dunno, but I feel we should be getting better not worse, gutted yes, is it the end of our top 4 aspirations? Probably, I guess time will tell. The lack of penetration is a real concern to me and yes, the loss of Beale and Teo next year will make us much weaker, we need outside players. Possible finals cannon fodder at this stage...

It's amazing how poor our attack is yet our defense is keeping us in the game.

Not so much the goal line defense, but the ability to control field position is what has been keeping us in games.
Which makes our lack of attack even more frustrating, because they get plenty of chances to do something.

I would take Josh Reynolds too, kid has a lot of talent!

I haven't said to much about Hook since he has been in charge mainly because I haven't been sure about him as a coach.
At this point in the year with 6 games to go and after tonight I have massive doubts about that.

Is he a good man manager? No doubt.
Does he get his fair share of results? Speaks for itself.
Is he a good football coach yet? No f@ckin way.

He has no idea how to coach attacking football which is 50% of the game. The team can get from one end to the other but so what, we have a talented roster of big fast forwards who do nothing but run from dummy half or take one out runs. It's juvenile under age footy.
He continually leaves his subs on the bench until the game is all but done, he can't even get the fullback to run an effective second man sweep play.
I have been waiting all year for us to add variety to our attack but it's not going to happen. If you don't have talent in the halves you have to introduce some deception with set plays. I can only hope I've gone off early, maybe he's leaving the attacking plays until closer to the finals but I just don't think we've got any.

The Bulldogs halves are just as bad as ours. Reylonds isn't any better than Wallace, and Keating is just as bad as Norman. Their props (of all people) and Barba seem to make up for it though, and big time.

2008 was the last real chance imo ... anyone see the replay on Fox of the Titans vs Broncos game from that year earlier today ? Brisbane was oozing talent and in the end was probably just a Simms knock on shy of making the grand final ...

I'm just living for the moment the club wakes up and realises what they've got at the moment isn't premiership material ..

Yeh mate, we all know 08 was the one that got away... ah the pain.

When I said 'this' Bronco team I meant the young ones... so I guess the window is 10/11/12. '10 Locky had an injury.

Negatives: Our forwards were dominated by a far inferior pack. Forward passes and plenty of them. Only time we looked like scoring was when it was too late. forward passes. Looked completely disinterested. forward passes. Can't really pick a best player cos they were all average. forward passes (seriously what the hell was with the forward passes)

Positives: I dont think it is possible for them to ever play that bad again.

BIG time. Honestly if it wasn't for their forwards those halves wouldn't be able to carry a team against top teams. Add Barba to that. Reminds me of the Broncs after Alfie retired and we had no 7/6 and we relied on our forwards and Locky at 1. Honestly it just shows how shite our competition is now (i.e. the lack of depth - we've lost too many quality players). Teams without quality and experienced 7/6 would never have been top 4 sides and premiership contenders back in the day. =)

people seem to forget that until about 2 weeks ago, we had scored i think the third most points in the competition this year. its not that we dont have lots of points in us - we do. our halves have just turned to complete $hit since the origin series started. i was so happy to see wallace proving me wrong for the first half of the season. now hes decided to prove me right again :(

That's the only game I've seen where there's absolutely no positives - nothing at all we can take from it. An absolutely dreadful performance. 3-4 forward passes said the commentators? We deadset threw 5-6 throughout the whole game. Norman and his ball runners (when he did decide to pass) were hopelessly out of synch. We were flat footed all night and cannon fodder for the Titans. How embarrassing.

Their legs were probably super heavy from last week's effort but really it's no excuse for how poor we applied ourselves tonight. This will really hurt our ladder position. We'll be down in 5th spot on Sunday afternoon for sure. Just so disappointed.

Hodges out for 2-3 weeks. Another blow to the backline

I blame Big Dave. He put a hex on us when we sacked Dane Gagai.

AP,
Yeah, I had that said to me today about our points and I haven't had time to check, but which teams did we score the points against.
I mean it's not much good if we scored heaps against all the bottom sides.
Before tonight we scored 56 of 68 tries from inside 20, how many chances will we get inside 20 against finals teams if we continue with this one out rubbish.

Corey Parker has a slight medial strain as well

Fuc*ing disgusting performance. So glad I saw The Dark Knight Rises instead of watching this tripe live.

Corey Norman has completely lost the trust of the team, mainly due to his complete inability to capitalise on field position or play anything more than what is immediately in front of him. 2 more bad weeks, and then Hunt is straight in. Norman hasn't earned incumbency to warrant Hook putting up with this shi*.

We were woeful, I mean three or four forward passes?

And Ray Hadley, what a stupid cu*t. I could commentate my morning shit and be more informative and entertaining and less biased about it.

I just can't cop that as an excuse, this is the most professional team in the comp, we should know how to recover properly with 7 days between games.
