POST GAME Round 21 - Roosters vs Broncos

Absolutly gutted this morning, for the fans, the club (not the players!) an everyone who put there heart, there time, an there money into supporting this 'team'. We the fan turn up every week to do our best, WHY cant the damn players do the same ?! If they dont wanna be there, then, **** of an let some one else have the opportunity to wear this great jersey an play for our team. They are nothing but a bunch of pea heart pretenders who dont deserve to be there. Also sick of loosing money on these bunch of num nuts each week. I say, NO MORE!

Wayne, if your reading this, please do something. If you cant, then **** off to the retirement home an let somebody else, like Kevvie, have a chance. Your team has wasted a whole season an so have us as fans. What will you do to turn things around for 2017?!

To be fair. Betting 13 plus on us to win when we are in a form slump wasn't the smartest bet? lol

This result and the recent results are exactly what we deserve as a fan base. How many years has Bennett been a top coach? How many times has this kind of slump happened and has he got us out of it? Seriously the guy has the runs on the board and deserves some fucking credit.

Yet a few months of poor performances amongst and after origin the knifes are out and the tantrums and bullshit are everywhere. While this isn't the case for everywhere, as a supporter group we are as mentally fragile as the players and deserve this and more IMHO.

Wayne did the right thing by tapping Parker on the shoulder. But who taps Wayne on the shoulder? He's only tarnishing his legacy. What more does he have to achieve in the game?

Appeasing anonymous fans?

I don't know if we deserve it exactly, but some folks could certainly calm down a bit.

I'm not sure on the exacts but Bennett doesn't have a great record of getting them out of the slump. 2006 and I think it was 2008 they found there way out of the slump. Other than that is has been slim pickings I believe.

I've been surprised with how many are turning on individual players in the team. Particularly the likes of Parker, McGuire, Hunt and Milford. This issue isn't an individual issue and I don't even believe it is a normal Broncos slump. This team at the moment have played the last few weeks in particular like they've never played together before. Just odd TBH. I don't know what is going on but there doesn't seem to be an easy fix. The injuries can't be discounted either. Every week there seems to be another injury and then you can add in the suspensions as well. Just a really tough few months but there is also something else that is going on in my view.

There is not much point looking for scapegoats when as a collective they aren't playing well and when your best players aren't playing well there isn't much hope for a win.

I's take Copley over Roberts any day - Roberts is a myth. The only time his speed is any good is when he's in the clear.
Can't beat anyone, can;t pass, can't tackle

I've been lurking for a couple of seasons but it took this post to make me sign up, It's the most accurate statement I have read on here.

Yeah, you can't blame individuals. It's quite clear the team don't really like each other at the moment, and aren't playing for each other at the moment.

There are still people saying we will bounce back and win the grand final on FB. My god....

Disgusting to see no structure in attack when we are at their line...either Milf throwing a useless pass or Hunt with a stupid kick or Boyd doing the only play he seems to know and (tonight) fucking it up over and over.

Who do we get rid of?
Well I'd tap the following players on the shoulder and tell them to look elsewhere. Thiaday been very average at best this year.
Maranta he is just shit
Macca great defender but that's it offers nothing in attack. Never gets our forwards over the advantage line.
Glenn we have some good young second rowers coming through the club.
Kahu always hurt only playes half the season.
Look at buying 2 big forwards a hooker and a centre/winger

If that's the truth then I'm done with Rugby League. I am 100% behind Bennett when it comes to his anti wrestle viewpoint, and if that is truly what the future of this sport is then I don't want it anymore. It's a terrible direction for the game to go that makes the product worse.

Sorry, but Bennet's anti-wrestle viewpoint has nothing to do with our demise. Our defence line is slow as shit, we wait on our heels, slide on our goal line, shit scared to put bodies in the way rampaging opponents, and have zero intimidation factor in any of our players. We are the new kid being bullied by everyone, including everyone's old whipping boys. I also don't believe the wrestle is anywhere near as big a factor as some here would like to believe, its just an easy throw away line.... fact is we're being dominated with and without the ball, making everything we do slow, and everything our opponents do speedy. If you want to see wrestle watch some games from about 2007 - 2012 - games this year are not even remotely close to that era. i feel like things started to shift a few years ago, hell, even the storm don't wrestle like some on here imagine, there game has evolved over the last few seasons in attack and defence as their team has. We just underestimated the impact of the interchange rule and haven't adapted our game plan. Other teams improved the aerobic ability of their big forwards, we stayed small and thought that would cut it.

Copley was doing absolutely nothing at the time.

He had a good run of form in 2014, and wasn't able to back that up and continue on with it.

Even for most of this year, he wasn't that good and had one good game against a Broncos side that are playing like wooden spooners.

At the time, it was the right call for the Broncos. He had been in the NRL for years and barely went anywhere.

I thought the reason we chose Copley to leave over Reed was related to him having a shorter contract so in theory he would be an easier pick up for another club, rather than paying out reed. That shits biting hard now, especially with Reed's injuries.

As a positive I thought we controlled the ruck quite well in periods of the game, I noticed we were staying down for a second longer when we could but at the end of the day our line speed and letting those offloads go late in the tackle really hurt us. Opacic was alright tonight as well. Having Gillet, Thaiday and McGuire back in the same week really helps also.

Next Week:

8. McGuire
9. Macca
10. Thaiday
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. TPJ
15. Blair
16. Wallace
17. Eseese

At this point it's looking like this. Losing Taylor to keep Hunt and Granville to keep McC are looking more and more like big mistakes every week

I don't even consider Copley being let go to make way for Roberts... Roberts was a straight swap for Hodges... We let Copley go so that we could keep Jack busted Reed. FMD four shoulder surgeries should have been the kicker, but we wait for five and then say hmmm maybe we should let him go.

Some player need to drop. They are performing their best. I will definitely put young player. I my thought the team should be the following.

1. Boyd
2. Kahu
3. Seve
4. Tom opacic
5. Oats
6. Ben hunt / Kodi nikorima
7. Darren Nicholls / Sam scarelett
8. Maguire
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Adam Blair
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker
Interchange:
14. Kodi Nikorima / Anthony milford
15. Jarrod Wallace
16. Tevita Pangai Jnr
17. Herman Eseese

James reborts didn't form well whole year. Just one or two good games. I think Ben hunt is not half back. He is more like 5/8. Sam Thaiday is very average this year. There is no fire in his belly.

I thought we marginally better, at least we were throwing the ball a bit more than the usual 5 hitups and kick.
On paper, i reckon we have a great team, some speed outwide and a good pack but not used to their potential. Need more second phase and stop being so predictable. what Joey said last night, sometimes playing too structured doesnt help. Maybe some teams it does but with our talent, no.
I dont undertand why CP and Blair had to be play so many minutes. Surely they could of had 20 minutes more rest and given Ese a run, he only seems to come on for the final 20-25 minutes and all his hitups he makes 10 metres, start giving him 20 minutes each side of the half.
I feel for Roberts, we know what we is capable of but he doesnt get enough early ball. That game still looked as if the ball was giving to Glenn instead.
The few troops next week will help, but still vast improvements and attitude need to be made for us to even make finals or the second week.

10 rounds in and things are great. Then gordon tallis takes out our hit man by messing with his reputation and head. Injuries happen and origin messes with our engine room. All Wayne can do is watch and hope to get through origin and try to regroup. Injuries, suspensions, tired old origin players, tired young origin players, growing loss of confidence leads to more losses. The coach cannot do a lot at this stage of the season due to recovery demands controlling each week. Waynes not stupid but he has no choice but to persist until the end of the season. Then watch out. He is too old to put up with crap.

Not really sure about this, we can't just keep on trotting out the origin line. No doubt it is real, but ****, its been reality for the best part of thirty years. By now we should have come up with something other than just ride out the origin period and hope. We have very little grit.. we let adversity become our enemy instead of our ally. Sharks, storm, cowboys... they all went through the origin period as well, but they sit 1, 2, and 3 on the ladder. We are soft.
