[Round 22, 2021] Broncos vs Roosters

Broncos do get screwed over though. Always have one of the toughest schedules because we get tv ratings. The sooner they stop calling it a draw and start calling it a schedule the better. Because it’s not a draw, they schedule who plays who and we do get cucked most years.

if the game continued the way it’s going it would be dead in 10 years. Surely tv ratings are awful. Even for a double header we had less than 15000 people… I used to watch every game every round but now I barely manage to watch the broncos game and usually don’t make it past the first 20-30 minutes of other games because of bad refereeing or the score being 30-0
In typical NRL style, the Sydney clubs & media will eventually wake up, say in 5 years time, after ratings fall through the floor, crowds abismal, and come to the realisation the rules are terrible and everything V’landys has touched in the last 2 years has done untold damage to the game. The NRL is too consumed by spin atm to see it. You reap what you sow, the game will be where Union is within the decade if they don’t wake up.

If there wasn’t a knock on they’d have passed left and kept going. So how could the play in which the alleged head high happened, still be “live”?

It’s ridiculous. Either the play was still live in which case a challenge can’t be made, or the play had ended with the knock on, in which case only the knock on decision can be challenged…
Again it was a poor choice of words. The play did end with the knock on, Klein just considered it the conclusion of Play 2, instead of the start of Play 3.
Klein calls tackle 3 as Mead gets off him and then he plays the ball
The play starts when the ball clears the ruck, Klein is making the argument that the mistake happened before that process was complete. Despite him calling Play 3 that doesn't initiate the play.

add Reynolds Capewell Carrigan to that side and while i don't think any are elite in a tedesco or turbo way we win more than we lose. Really good base to build on. With a favourable draw, some stability in selections etc we have a good side. Still missing the game breaker though. imo that has to come from within and there are a few coming through
Staggs

Copley scored in a massive space Oates left vacant being out of position. Oates dropped one cold too. Oates was ordinary.
Oates isn't the fullback though Nui should of cleaned that up

Yeah so incorrect decisions all round... Klein also the first ref ever to change his own on field decision, even though it was correct.

Expecting the NSWRL broom will be out on Sunday during the big league rap when it's all about "the roosters with so many injuries" and Annesley just ignoring that it ever happened at all. because it was broncos and happened on Friday night
If they even discuss the game, don’t think they have even bothered doing the broncos games the last couple weeks.

Kevvie ffs mate show some balls.
Journo flat out asked him if they were dudded by the refs in that final 5 minutes and he says no.
Why pay 10k for something that won't change the result. It's on the players for the loss no matter how bad the refereeing. Too many dumb errors. Our attack was terrible. One out rucks and a bomb all night.

The issue I have is WHEN is a play finished, and when does it begin? For example, if a knock-on occurs in the PTB, surely that would be the CURRENT play and not the play before. The ref calling held or release is when the old play ends and the new play begins (IMO).
The worst one is when the went back over a set if 6 and penalised TPJ earlier in the year.

Robinson didn’t even answer the question, coward.

I think you gotta accept Oates is going to have errors in his game. It’s how he picks himself up from it that matters. He had a good game beside from that terrible handling error.
No way. Oates needs to get rid of all his unforced errors. His defensive positioning and hands are not first grade standard. Move him on.

Oh my gosh, I just saw the final play that got the Roosters a penalty and the win, what sport are we watching here? I mean, that is absolutely appalling. Not only was it totally wrong to refer it as far as I know according to the rules, to overturn, it needs to also be reportable, which it certainly wasn't and you are telling me, that the Roosters' player by dropping his head into Flegler's arm, while Flegler is tackling him across his chest / midriff is now a high tackle? This sport has been dead since Vlandys took over, this is dancing on its grave, that is absolutely farcical, the NRL should apologise to Brisbane, that should not have resulted in the Roosters winning, that was an absolute disgrace.

On the positive side, our boys are on the up, there is so much to look forward to with these kids, they are slowly but surely starting to come of age.

And Flegs is arriving big time of late, just a shame he keeps getting penalised for legit good tackles. I would be fine if there were bad shots but he is getting ruined for legitimately good, strong tackles.

“The Broncos were then awarded a controversial penalty in front of the sticks to retake the lead, before the Roosters were then awarded a penalty after a desperate James Tedesco captain’s challenge.”

FOXNRL 🙃

Yeah I mean Kelly getting almost snapped in half was far more controversial than Flegler's high shot across the midriff at absolute minimal force on a decision that should never have been referred, totally makes sense the headline.

If the play was still live, why did he blow his whistle to stop it?

Why did he signal and say knock-on Roosters? They could challenge that, but they didn’t.

They challenged the play before that and were allowed to…
But if their specific challenge was that Tuponuia was hit high then they weren't even allowed to challenge it... and the reason why they weren't allowed to challenge it is because blokes get hit high unintentionally all the fucking time.

It is only meant to be a reportable offence that can see a foul play acted on and even then he knocked the ball and the ref called a change of possession ... and I am yet to see a situation, even under vlando ball. where the team has to hand over possession for a foul play that happened prior to a change of possession.

The closest was, you guessed it, against us when they went back 4-5 tackles for an apparent crusher on TPJ after Manly kicked the ball, but we caught it and they decided to go back 60m and give manly a penalty.

Hell under the rules that Klein decided to play under for the final 60 seconds the roosters could've challenged that Teddy didn't actually drop it over the line in the first half, because he copped a graze to the head whilst trying to put the ball down.... it is the primary reason why you CANNOT challenge for foul play and has always been the case.
