[Round 22, 2021] Broncos vs Roosters

The worst one is when the went back over a set if 6 and penalised TPJ earlier in the year.
But that was initiated by the Bunker, which IS in the rules. It was not so in this case.

What does Kennedy actually offer? seriously..

He's a big body and I get that but he makes that many errors, hitting guys in the face.. dropping the ball, etc

Kevvie's developed a few others just like him except they don't seem to make the same errors over and over
Palasia overtook him for mine and Bull needs a bit more time. Kennedy to be fair has returned from that leg infection a bit underdone. Hopefully another off season will knock off the dross from his game, he was looking much improved this year until recently.

Oh my gosh, I just saw the final play that got the Roosters a penalty and the win, what sport are we watching here? I mean, that is absolutely appalling. Not only was it totally wrong to refer it as far as I know according to the rules, to overturn, it needs to also be reportable, which it certainly wasn't and you are telling me, that the Roosters' player by dropping his head into Flegler's arm, while Flegler is tackling him across his chest / midriff is now a high tackle? This sport has been dead since Vlandys took over, this is dancing on its grace, that is absolutely farcical, the NRL should apologise to Brisbane, that should not have resulted in the Roosters winning, that was an absolute disgrace.

On the positive side, our boys are on the up, there is so much to look forward to with these kids, they are slowly but surely starting to come of age.

And Flegs is arriving big time of late, just a shame he keeps getting penalised for legit good tackles. I would be fine if there were bad shots but he is getting ruined for legitimately good, strong tackles.
Flegler was good tonight Sproj. he can be our enforcer and showed some clean heels setting up kelly try

They probably will like they have done so many other times but it does nothing for the fans who pay money to sit in the stands and watch the game and have to go home feeling dejected or the club itself who doesn't get the 2 competition points
If they did then it would mean that the NSWRL media would have to run a story on it... and they don't want to run shit as to why we are disadvantaged on the field.

Although it would probably go along the lines of:
Yvonne: "Annesley has come out and indicated that the call to challenge a high shot in the broncos vs roosters game was incorrect in every facet... what do we think about that gents??"

Ennis: "Well it's a tough pill to swallow for the broncos fans I'm sure... and I know they will feel hard done by... but luckily for the competition it won't impact on the finals... .... ... I bet my old mate Corey Parker has grown some extra greys the old silver fox... have a go at ya, ya old bastard"

Yvonne: " hahahahahahahahahahahaha... very well said Ennis.. so Corey how are those titans shaping up for today's game. Should be an absolutely enthralling game with souths?"

[ Narrator: it was not "enthralling"... Souths would go on to win 75 - 4 in what some locals from Logan described as "the most **** of a game of Vlando ball yet" ]

So foul play can actually be challenged.

But only by the team that's been penalized.

Copley scored in a massive space Oates left vacant being out of position. Oates dropped one cold too. Oates was ordinary.
On that Copley try Glenn is still at the posts. Kelly is running across. Mead and Oates are completely outnumbered again. It keeps happening and it is wrong to keep blaming Oates for it.

Blaming the ref is shitty enough, but concocting a competition wide conspiracy is the very pits of being a poor loser. Have some dignity, man.

Okay, has anyone, ever, in the history of the game, been handed a suspension for something that happened months earlier, the moment the are due to return from injury? That right there is just one of countless pieces of bullshit we have been handed. If you don't think there is some dodgy shit going on here I'll put you in contact with a Nigerian prince that has a sweet sweet deal for you.

That's poor wording on my part, I meant Klein considered it a part of play 2 and since the play the ball wasn't correct play 3 had never started.

My expectation is that the NRL will explain that they technically challenged the wrong call, but had they challenged the knock on then the video referee would have detected the high shot and retroactively ruled on it.

This is why I hated the rule in the NYC.
Everyone knows that a drop in the ptb is the next play... there have already been instances where teams have tried to challenge something or commentators have talked about something leading up to a ptb only for the ref to say "no, once the play the ball has started it is a new tackle" (commentators in regards to rulings on tries).... are we meant to believe that Klein has completely forgotten a fundamental rule of rugby league i.e. the play the ball and the ruck??

If so then the NSWRL can't just come out and sweep it under the rug... they absolutely must sack both Klein and Perenara... because both either completely forgot the rule or decided to ignore it to manipulate the result

Secondly if that shot is now the gold standard of what gets put on report... then the NSWRL are in a whole fucking lot of trouble, because players will absolutely lay down anytime they are even remotely touched on the face and the NSWRL will have to put them on report.

go back to the hetherington send off...and tge manly game round 10... i am not saying conspiracy at all. but we are the crash test dummies of the nrl. we cop a bad call or two...the rules change and the other teams benefit. shit happens i guess

I hate that it was used as a hail mary play, once it was found that contact was made with the head (even though it wouldn't be enough to knock the water off of a duck's back) they were always going to make that call on the technicality of it

They had no choice to make that decision but I guarantee you every ref in the NRL wouldn't make that call in the run of play given how accidental and ever harmless it was to the bloke carrying the ball, his hand actually makes contact with the footy ffs
But that is exactly why you are not allowed to challenge on high shots... the admin had already realised that high shots happen all the time and if they let teams challenge on every high shot then there would be 45 correct challenges a game.

If the roosters went to Klein and said we want to challenge that "Tupouniua was hit high back there" then Klein and Perenara must absolutely be sacked... it was one of the first things raised by the media as an issue with the challenge and subsequently indicated by the NSWRL admin that it couldn't be challenged on.

From what I could tell on tv... it was literally the only thing the ref looked at during the challenge.

next will be challenging forward passes....

this is what Anasta said about the Radley charge down penalty.

“What’s Radley supposed to do?”

“He is trying to charge the ball down.

If that's the standard, you can make that argument for about 99% of the foul play in the game today, because the vast majority of it is accidental. e.g.

What's Flegler supposed to do?

he was trying to make a tackle on a falling player
