I'm feeling the most confident going into a game than I have in a long time. We're in electric form, normally have the Rorters measure, playing at home, Taupau and Arthars fall out and Flegler and Mariner come straight in, we win well here and you can just about lock in a top 4 finish, and the rest of the season becomes a fight for top 2.

Kevvie Walters, take a bow.

We're going to get flogged.

Thursday’s game against the Roosters is a hallmark event for Broncos lock Kobe Hetherington as he reaches for his 50th NRL game.

“It’s been a long journey but it feels good to hit the 50. Since I was a kid, I always dreamed of just playing NRL but to get to 50 games, wow, yeah I am proud of myself.”

“The Broncos showed interest in me out of school, I signed with the 20’s and the rest is history.”

Being the son of a rugby legend, Jason Hetherington, Kobe proves the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

“I used to follow dad, I was a hooker in juniors but I got a bit too tall for hooker and my lower back started to hurt always bending down”

“Dad leaves football talk to Kevvie and the coaching staff here. He more guides me when I’m off the field, makes me make all the right choices in other aspects of my life.”

“Though the one thing he does say is: ‘Run hard, tackle hard, do that over the opposition. If all 13 players do that, you’ll win’.”

Coincidentally Hetherington made his debut in 2021 where he defeated the Roosters. Since then, Kobe was quick to make an impact on the NRL as he boasts a positive 26 wins. Amongst his 13 games in 2023, Kobe has amounted 14 tackle breaks and 266 tackles at an incredible 93% efficiency.

“My debut was during a tough time, but I was lucky enough to get the win. However, all the boys stuck together and now we’re building something pretty special here. We’ll keep marching forward towards the finals.”

“Whatever we need to do to make the grand final, I’m happy to do it.”

“We’re just taking it week by week, keep marching forward. Every team wants to make the grand final but if we can keep doing the little things well and keep defending hard then I think we’ve got a pretty good shot.”

Hoping to make a deep run in the finals, however, Hetherington doesn’t forget his small-town humble beginning.

“Baralaba – it only has 200 people, (Corey Oates) Oatsey and I being from there, all we knew as kids was footy and work. You put those 2 things together and yeah of course you’re going to get some good footy players.”

“If you don’t make it you go to the mines. It’s been a pretty long journey, a pretty tough track. A few moments where I just wanted to give up, but I’m glad I stuck with it and I’ve got my old boy to thank for that. I took my opportunity and it’s been amazing.”

What’s not to love?! I keep saying it, LOVE KOBE. I truly hope he, along with Patty, Walsh and Co. is a 300+ game player for the Broncos. 🙏🏻❤️

Boy I can't wait for Walsh to burn tedesco this week. On form the match up is not even close

If we're going by current form, Tedesco is a real concern.

That week away looked like it worked for him because he was pretty good last week. It looks like he's found his mojo again which isn't good for us.

He did look good, but titans defence was absolute ass.

They were running telegraphed outside inside plays around the ruck and walking through basically untouched.

Looking good against super soft defence may lead to over confidence on their part.

We need to avoid playing down to the opposition's level... in the second half last week it was a real show that we can play several gears above the opposition and that needs to be the new standard, because that's what penrith do.

There is also nothing more disheartening and demotivating than being turned away time and time again. No matter what you do the opposition feel like they’ve got 26 players out there. Penrith do it better than most and have done over the years. All of a sudden you’re trying to climb Everest without oxygen. Can it be done? Maybe. Should you try? Don’t bother. Before you know it, you talk yourself out of a win.

Point is, no matter how good an attack is, if we keep blunting it with speed, aggression and desire… they will all eventually give up.

Making me appreciate that we've ditched all our shit heads and have a team full of Broncos.

Lodge in a Broncos jersey was dark times.

It's crazy to get this kinda confidence going into a game, especially against the Sombreros and also look at the team sheet each week and be like 'hell yeah'

Not crazy @Bish
The Rooters have beaten us 5 out of the last 6. They always aim up against us. So it definitely won’t come easy. They also just found form against a shit Tits team

I’m glad the roosters won their last game. That should remind the broncos to not take them lightly and get ambushed, they better realise the roosters will treat this as their grand final.

Piakura still sick or some other issue?
