POST GAME [Round 23, 2023] Broncos vs Cowbyes

Chad was pure trash on first viewing. Wonder if that holds true on the 2nd?

Val Holmes doesn’t change the result. The only cowboy who scared me slightly was Lolo.

Am I recalling correctly that Mam cut Hess in half? He was really epic.

Watching the replay, this game was probably the game of the season.
In general, or the Broncos best performance?

I loved the speed the game was played at and you could see how wrecked Piakura and Walters were by the shadows of half-time. There were moments where Piakura was absolutely gone and just running on fumes. It's a credit to him he just kept soldiering on.

I wonder how well it stacks up to Penrith-Parramatta from earlier the year?

Brilliant game by us all round.

Madden- very solid. His best game. Despite that chip and chase going dead, I like that he was confident enough to go for it.

Mam- best on the park. I found it interesting he played a tradition 6 role last night and played both sides, whereas with Reynolds he’s usually stuck on the left.

Haas, Carrigan and Walsh- freaks

Palasia- coming into brilliant form.

Piakura- i’ll gladly cop it for saying he sucked. Unbelievable footwork and good contact in defence.

Billy- he looked so dangerous from the get go. He’s getting better and better. Thought our attack around the ruck died a bit with Smoothy on but Smoothy did a solid job just feeding the halves.

Herbie- looked more dangerous with his kick return runs than at centre. Always thought he’d make an amazing winger

Shout out to arthars too who I thought was great. He has really stepped up this season and is so reliable. Just gets the job done even with so much competition for that wing spot.

In general. If not the game of the season then a very close second with the Panthers vs Eels game from earlier in the year.

IMO that was the game of the season for the Broncos. I don't think we've been tested like that in such a high speed game in a long while. To come away with the win with the players we had out and away from home, that was impressive.

Billy's attacking side is really starting to show itself. Thought he had a couple of very nice plays......was a bit confused why Kev took him off early.

On the penalty count, it wasn't as one-sided as it seemed. Weren't two of them for off-side when plays broke down and the ball bobbled between two players? Piakura's being one of them. They were legit penalties that aren't applied discretionally.

It really didn't though. Billy looks busier, and he had a couple of great runs including a try assist, but Tyson might be a quiet achiever. He powers through a massive amount work (45 tackles), seemingly trundling around, but if you notice he's always there at the clutch moments. His passing game is deceptively pinpoint and understated. Which all makes him more suited to starting. At the risk of going down that track again - and this is not even remotely going to happen - but if Tyson can do that for 80 minutes we might even gain from having a different type of back on the bench, maybe even a wildcard utility like Capewell.

Speaking of blokes that no one apart from Parker (surprise surprise) can stand…
All Broncos games for the rest of the year are on Channel 9 and you don’t need to put up with that turd Ennis. Cancel Kayo 😂
The best thing about Fox is all the Broncos old boys. I love these guys.
