POST GAME [Round 23, 2023] Broncos vs Cowbyes

If Tom D started to slide, I wanted one of our players to bash him and thrown on to the turf up there. And there’s his Highness Sir Carrigan who did the exact thing. I loved the moment.

On a different note, His Highness, must be reading our forums if not, how else would he have done the exact same thing the fans wanted? 😀.

Sir Carrigan 😂. I like the sound of it.

Not sure how many times the commentators said "it looks like the Cowboys are coming back" or "you get a sense that the Broncos are shot and the Cowboys are finishing the stronger". Rinse and repeat with words to that effect and you get the picture of how bad the faux team were death riding the Broncos. Made the win that wee bit sweeter. Then the after game coverage when the tries and the big plays are discussed were binned totally as they crossed directly to Perth.

It was midway through the second half when it dawned on me that we'll enjoy the bye and then really give to the storm in the last round to serve notice to the rest of the also rans.

Ezra's defence has to be close to the best 6 in the comp at the present moment.

Great game. A big F you to the Fox team and Parker for riding the Cows for a win all game.

Happy with Madden, did what was required and gained some good experience to boot. Cobbo went well with the ball but he really struggled in defence.

Thought our young forwards really started to dominate as the game wore on and a big effort from Piakura and Willison who are already looking like seasoned forwards. Patty was immense and Haas his usual unstoppable self.

If Reynolds played we may have got to 50.

The Cows are gone. If they make the 8 they will be cannon fodder. With the amount of mistakes we made and Sutton helping out they really should have scored more points. I suppose it shows just how good our defence has become since the horror years.

Oh and a big plus for Ezra who just drilled anyone that ran at him.

I'm now convinced we can win this whole thing. It's between us and Penrith IMO.

Again in that first half we showed that when we put the foot down, very few teams - if any - in the comp can go with us. We play a totally different tempo of footy to Penrith. If we can cut out the errors, there is not a single team in the comp that can beat us.
Agreed, but i reckon Warriors are in the mix too.

As I said in the game thread, this is clearly a tactic they are employing because staggs is almost always on the wing when this happens. It's worked to great effect in defence the last few games but yes we run the risk of mistiming it giving the opp a chance out wide.

His stats for the game
164 run metres
9 tackle busts
1 line break
1 try

And a bunch of butchered opportunities. He's going well but if he can sort out the blood rushes in attack he'll go to the next level.
Totally agree. I expect Kev & his staff would surely have a chat with him.

Call me superstitious or something but I don’t login to this forum when the games live. I will only login once 80min are up.

Keep doing what you're doing, it's working out well!

We've seen it in 2 games now where Herbie goes across field and hits Cobbo running a hole.
Not sure if it's practiced but Cobbo has put himself in a great position both times, hasn't been able to ice it yet but if they keep doing it points are coming

All coaches get sacked one day
Absolutely they are, the point being made which you chose to ignore is it’s a bit rich to be quoting your own posts for a pat on the back while not eating some humble pie over your campaign to sack Kevvie.

They saw record breaking clicks on the collapse articles last year, they want it more than anything.

I really like that, in the absence of Reynolds, Walsh didn't overplay his hand. He wasn't the only guy putting on plays. Mam, Madden, Walters, Smoothy, Capewell and Carrigan all stood up and there was no target for shutting down a play. Walsh was a threat and took focus off the playmaker who could put on a play.

Great win Brisbane.

This is what the Broncos circa 1997-2000 did to teams.

3 premierhsips in 4 years. Im not saying thats what this team will do but more a acknowldgement of the levels they have now reached.

Mam and Walsh must have been told to turn up today and lead - and they did that.

Madden needs time, lets not create another Dearden here. Give him the benefit of learning from Arey...

It wasn't an unfair question at the end of last season.

We were wooden spooners with salary cap issues, that's never a quick fix.

It's actually astonishing that we looked a top four side for a large chunk of last season, even more astonishing is some weren't happy with that. Oh well, it will go down as one of the great threads, for the wrong reasons.
