POST GAME [Round 24, 2021] Sharks vs Broncos

The boys put in the effort but as usual too many unforced errors and stupid high tackles. I like the aggression from Flegler but he just has to lower his contact point by about the length of a football and he will cut guys in half and be at no risk of a penalty. The Sharks kicking game was so much better than ours which consists of bomb and hope. Every team is onto our left side defence with Herbie not trusting Milford. Herbies trying to cover Milford's player as well as his own which keeps bringing in Oates and leaving the opposition winger open.

I like the grit the team is showing and with Capewell in for Glenn and Reynolds for Milford our attack, defence and kicking game will be so much better. Milford was putting in tonight but again made unforced errors, missed tackles and has a one dimensional kicking game that constantly had the Sharks starting their sets on the 30 m line.

The NRL really have to take a look at the 6 again rule in the off season. Cronulla were blatantly holding down in the first tackle after a scrum and giving away a 6 again so that their line could reset. I believe the 6 again should only be used when the attacking team is in the oppositions 20 m zone and anywhere else it should revert back to being a penalty.

This team would be totally fucked without Haas and that's saying something when you play on a 15th placed side.

I've known it all along but Milf and Coates will be bigger losses than most suggest.

Bludger of a game. Cronulla were awful and didn't deserve to win. Probably the slowest game I have seen all year and one of these teams will probably make the finals. Would rather see the Titans get in there.

What I learned from this game is Milford is a 14.

I know he would come onto the field and fail to have impact in his current mental state, but if he trained for it that would be the only role he could play in a team.

Cause he's no half

After this game, combined with the last 6 weeks i have absolutely zero doubt left in my mind that Siebold was the root of this teams problems.

Kevvie has rid the side of his stench and even when the chips are down and we have every reason to drop out bundle and and let the opposition walk all over us, we continue to fight.

Well done Kev.
Yeah credit where credits due. Kev is doing very well lately.

My only complaint would be why would you take Haas off at the same time your other starting prop has been binned and you’re down to 12 men. I don’t know for sure which event occurred first - Haas being benched or Flegler send off - so if Haas came off before the bin then my point is moot.

Payne likely needed a break played 6 minutes while down to 12 men. (and it was his first rest) don't forget we didn't touch the ball for the first 6 minutes of the game as well

according to NRL.com

Flegler was sin binned @ 23 mins 56 secs
Haas went off @ 29 mins 18 secs

The effort was there but you can't win a game with 12 players for a quarter of the game. In the end Fleglers brain snaps cost us the game. We really struggle when Haas has a spell which is a worry. Hopefully that will be solved when we bring in an experienced prop in the off season.
Was it really? Flegler is trying to impose himself on the game and our behalf. Victor Radley does this 14 times a game and is celebrated for it.

And just like Radley, the times he gets out right it works, conversely when it goes wrong, spends a lot of time on the sidelines. Radley is quickly becoming a liability for the chooks this season unless he can clean up his game. Difference between the two is Radley can be a game breaker.

Cobbo seems to be coming along nicely and when Staggs comes back next year I wouldn't mind seeing Staggs at right centre and Cobbo at left centre with Herbie moving over to the right wing.
I really like Cobbo in the centres but I'd have him getting a run at fullback I'm just not sold on Nui as a long term option.
All depends too what the plan is with Brenko

If Cobbler is being viewed as a fullback, just play him in QLD Cup next year IMO. Obviously he looks impressive, but it would benefit him more learning the position there, rather than learning it while playing in the centres.

Couldn't watch the game but I just saw the Ramien incident. Did he seriously stay on the field after we had 2 sin binned? Wow.

not only that, but when he was put on report he was told that it was high contact "from a couple of sets ago"

I forgot about Brenko Lee coming over. I'm a bit worried that Brenko is a bit injury prone and may miss games next year. I'm the same as you with Nui, he's improving in the position with every week but whether he is the long term prospect I don't know.
