I know. But paix and walters have been so crap. It's impossible to differentiate the 3 of them turpins a better defender and we leaked 60 points last week. He probably contributes to our errors because of how shit he is at passing the ball. I dunno. I don't like any of the options to be fair. Would have loved to keep Danny Levi. At least he's a hooker
Problem with Turpin is we make no metres in attack because of his shit ball, then we don’t get repeat sets and don’t nail the opposition into corners. They start each set at the 30m line. Turpin is fucking mud. The worst hooker in the NRL by a long shot and exactly why not a single team has offered him a deal.

Having both turpin and Billy in the side is crazy. They bring the same game to the side and even Kevvie can’t decide who to start or bench each week. We desperately need impact of some kind off the bench and at the moment we have zilch.

I can’t get my head around this.

This feels like someone not wanting to fix a mistake that they made because it shows they actually made the mistake.

he fucked with a working middle rotation for no reason, when all he had to do is replace carrigan with hetherington and put another middle on the bench. Forget all the other selections for a second because we’re getting pounded in the middle and everything is falling apart because of it.

But to be fair on form I think turpin has outperformed paix and walters. I want to uppercut myself for saying that... boy oh boy
He can outperform the rest of the team all he wants but until he can throw an accurate pass off the ground his performance hinders the entire teams ability to move up the field. Somehow he's getting outperformed by Billy Walters in that aspect and that's saying something.

Or maybe he's just not as good as everyone thinks he is
In a team that almost completely lacks urgency and energy, he's exactly the type of player needed. Everyone who has said he's not that good is 100% correct, but he brings something this team needs desperately. I laugh at those who are downplaying his energy though. Players who can lift his team mates by getting stuck in to the nitty gritty are valuable.

Unfortunately with two rounds left and a superstar holding that 6 jersey, unless he can offer something at hooker there probably isn't a spot for him. If he was bigger and could defend better he'd make a pretty good lock with Hetherington.

Turpin could basically be a smaller, less good version of Ruben Cotter.

Do think gamble should have been shoehorned into the side somehow, instead of either one of the hookers.

Disclaimer: which one is a different argument btw, I’ll stir that old chestnut up later.

That’s what I was getting at earlier.

He might not quite have the size for the role sadly. Cotter isnt big either but i think he has more impact in every aspect that Jake would.

Yep. I agree. Like I said the whole thing is mud.

Kev really needs better coaching staff around him in his ear. There's no way Ryan James should be coming off after 24 minutes, if he has to be selected at all. Give him 15 minutes, bust his ass and then put Kobe on. Flegler works better off the bench this year because he offers more spark than Jensen. It's all about balance and he just doesn't have it.

8 Payne Haas - off after 30, replaced by Kennedy (60 minutes)
9 Billy Walters - off after 32, replaced by Paix (47 minutes)
10 Corey Jensen - off after 22, replaced by Flegler (37 minutes)
11 Kurt Capewell
12 Jordan Riki
13 Ryan James - off after 15, replaced by Hetherington (25 minutes max)

14 Cory Paix -off after 65 (43 minutes)
15 Kobe Hetherington- off after 70 if necessary (55 minutes)
16 Thomas Flegler - off after 65 (43 minutes)
17 Rhys Kennedy - off after 50 (20 minutes)

If he keeps getting selected I just want him to come on and tackle like a mad man and stay the **** away from passing the ball.

Even his tackles don't do anything. Lovely style but is rarely beneficial in the modern game. There's certain things our players do that look good on tv, but aren't always beneficial to the team. Turpins leg tackles and Haas' leg drive and extra metres in the opposition half.

I’d rather just not have him in, I’m just trying to make a shit sandwich less shittier. 😞
