Round 24 Discussion

Cherry-Evans launches the ball high and Papenhuyzen wants nothing to do with it. Gosiewski gets there, instinctly passes wide and finds nobody. Melbourne scrum 10m out from their line.

Munster kicks on tackle three and Melbourne are happy to turn defence into attack as Taufua spills it cold.

Melbourne right back on the attack, I'm sure they haven't forgotten about the golden point game at AAMI.

Melbourne receive the penalty, and they're happy to restore their 18 point lead. The Storm are just in total control tonight as Sironen gives up a penalty to put them right back on the attack.

Smith with a switch play puts Papenhuyzen into space, but Ryan tries another grubber kick and it's gathered in rather anti-climatically by the Manly defence.

Manly working it off their line, not afraid to change angles and try to create space.

Melbourne return serve, hitting both sides of the ruck looking for an opportunity.

One small victory for Melbourne, Garrick defuses a bomb quite comfortably while Melbourne allow it to bounce and eventually give away a penalty. Manly with a chance to add some respectability to the board. Unfortunately Taupau hesitates close to the line, forces a pass and Cherry-Evans can't clean it up.

The back three from Melbourne are just so strong on play one, I've lost track of the amount of half-breaks, it gives them the advantage from play one.

Chambers lands a good shot on Walker, and then gets carried away and hits the next bloke high. Now we've got ourselves an all in brawl. Gosiewski is down here.

On replay, Gosiewski pushes Chambers off Walker, Chambers tells him to go for a run and Gosiewski obliges him before getting hit with a swinging arm.

is it just me or did anyone else think that first Cam Murray try for souths was a double movement.

because to me it looks like he has a Warriors player on his back and he uses his arms to get himself to the in goal area
That was the definition of a double movement IMO

Chambers has been sent to the bin, with only 11 left on the clock, it's virtually a send off.

I thought the call looked harsh, would it have happened if Gosiewski didn't suffer a leg injury? Or if Manly didn't come in for a brawl?

Waddell spills it, so whatever feint hope of a comeback was extinguished within two plays.

That's my tipping comp done for the year, and of course it's Melbourne that sink me. Good luck boys.

Me too. I really thought manly would give Melbourne some problems. Guess the turbo injury didn’t help.

Manly waste another opportunity, Parker easily marks a poor cross-field kick by Munster only for Taufua to lose it two plays later.

Hughes beats the outside defence and puts Papenhuyzen over to put the cherry on top for Melbourne.

What a horror night for Manly. Trbojevic, Gosiewski and Boyle all injured and Melbourne have put 30 on.

LOL and now Munster has done a shoulder

I would've agreed earlier but not with this sort of scoreline. This suggests bigger issues than just losing your fullback early.

Manly have been horrible this second half, Koroisau spills it cold.

Manly fortunate not to concede a professional foul there, Smith was held off the ball, I guess it wasn't worth the fuss.

Munster's shoulder looks gone. He'd have to be doubtful for next week's game against North Queensland and that could be a big blow on the eve of the finals.

That was a poor kick by Papenhuyzen, straight into a Manly defender but he can't clean up. Manly have got nothing in defence as Olam strolls over easily as you like to pick up a hat-trick of tries. He's done well this season, he played last year out of position and struggled. In a more familiar role, he's proven a real handful on that left edge.

Apparently a Manly supporter just threw one at Chambers lol

That’s a disaster for Manly I feel sorry for them. Battle hard all season, surprise everyone, then have it ended two weeks out.

Good work here from Penrith, Leota has been very strong for them early and his offload gave Kikau all the room in the world to crash over.
