Round 24 Discussion

I don't understand.

I thought the signing of Fifita and Tino was meant to put Titans in premiership contention this year? They were meant to be guaranteed a spot in the finals.

They weren't meant to be relying on other results to go their way to make the finals.

What happened?

Going in with a completely new halves pairing (especially Peachey) never made sense. I was lost for words on Tuesday and I still don't get it. Fogarty has been our least creative half all season so we match him with a guy who virtually hasn't played 5/8 for 3 years give or take and doesn't have a kicking game. Dumbfounded.

Got what we deserved.

I always thought the Titans focusing so much on their pack was going to come back to bite them.

It's all well and good to have a gun forward pack, but it's not going to make much difference if you don't have the halves and that's been one of their biggest weaknesses this year, their halves.

It's not like the Gold Coast haven't put a value on their halves, the issue is they have $1,000,000 tied into Ash Taylor and he can't get a start. They also have Peachey on $500,000+ (reportedly) to be a playmaker and he's just too inconsistent for the role.

I actually think their halves have some serious potential for next year and moving forward. It's the #9 position that needs some attention but honestly there isn't a lot out there. The best bet is to take a gamble on a few fringe graders until an Oskar Bryant or someone coming through the grades can fill in. They did have a promising player in Ediq Ambrosyev but he's reportedly off to Canterbury who are also absolutely desperate for a 9.

Is sexton injured? I can’t make sense of that halves pairing last night.

Nope, dropped after we got rolled through the middle by Souths (not his fault). I can at least understand that confidence wise given we had the Storm next week too. Bringing him back for a must win game could've ended badly too if we lost I guess.

Dropping Ash who we'd persisted with all season with 2 games to run though is ludicrous. Think Ash was injured in the middle of a game earlier in the season and it was plainly obvious Peachey was useless at 5/8 when he filled in there for that game.

It seemed odd to me that Holbrook would claim a poor showing against the storm (the best defensive and attacking team in history of the game) as sufficient reason to drop him.

Peach has been lethal coming off the bench as a 13 for 50-60mins a game and Ash I thought has been fine most of the year.

The attack last night was so poor... soo much side to side movement, Peach planted on an edge and all the attack geared towards the 18yr old 75kg fullback.

I tipped the titans after I looked at the knights bench, they were missing Dsaif and Klemmer, and the titans plan wasn't to run straight through them and use Peach to cause havoc through the middle off the bench??

That was a game that was there for the taking and titans bombed it

Karma is a bitch raiders.
Twice they stay down and milk penalties for love taps accross the face. Twice they f**k it up the following plays.

Unhappy couple minutes from Walsh there

I don’t think he’s quite as good as he thinks he is. Yet.

Yep, he got arrogant ditching us for the Warriors, and he's doomed himself to a shot mental state at least for the foreseeable future. We had his best interests in mind telling him to start the year in reggies, but he decided he was ready when he wasn't and that's the end of that.

What the **** just happened there??

Ref said he called time off for a HIA... I thought if a trainer asked for time off the player MUST come from the field.

Instead we spent 3mins watching the trainer tape up a cut and he was in the next tackle.... what the **** is going on?!?

So according to joey and gus, Latrell Mitchell just didn't catch a ball better then anyone in the nrl can not catch a ball...

In other words latrell is on screen with players around him doing great things. But we will suck latrell off for doing nothing so well.

He decided he was ready to get $500k a year... he didn't care if he played first grade, reggies or for the Gymea Gorillas

massive hit, some heavy contact in this game so far.
