Round 24 - Knights vs Broncos - Build Up Thread

I'd definitely be upset. I really hope we finish in the top 2, that break in the 2nd week of the finals would be invaluable. In the past 2 years we could never really fire up for 2 big games in a row: a good example would be the Dragons/Melbourne finals games in 09. But then it might just have been Henjak who couldn't get the best out of his players consistently. Still, I'd rather not risk it.

It was still a thrashing. Don't think Wallace would have changed the result. I'm happy enough to blame Henjak though. Didn't play a replacement halfback, and couldn't motivate the team enough.

Oh I agree Henjak ****ed up big time playing Tonie Carroll in the halves. Still think if we were at full strength it would've been interesting though (also would've been interesting if Melbourne weren't illegally over-strength, pricks).

It would be a real let down if we can't beat the Knights comfortably. They have beaten only bottom 8 or struggling sides in the last couple of months, misleading form IMO.

Yep, same thing with 50uff$ really, if you take into account that the dragqueens have lost 8 of their last 10 games! :loser:

I won't be upset if we lose because they simply out play us, but if we don't even turn up that'll be disappointing.

We really do need to aim for top 2 though, getting the week off in the finals would be very nice.

Yes, top 2 then a week off then a home prelim final would be gold!!

The good thing about our recent performances is that despite racking up big points against the Sharks and Cowboys, plus beating a very strong Warriors outfit, I still think there is plenty of improvement left in us - both in attack and defence.

Hopefully we can peak come finals time.

If we win both of next 2 games against the Knights and Rabbitohs

and

Manly win only one of their next 2 games against the Bulldogs and the Storm

Then The Broncos vrs Sea Eagles game on Sept 4 will take on added importance (more so than just being Locky's last regular season home game) because if both of those scenarios occur and IMO they are likely scenarios, then the winner of this game will take 2nd place

Originally posted this in the wrong thread.. sigh.

Team is up. Same team that played against the Cowboys (still no Hannant or Yow Yeh).

This will be yet another good test to see where we're at ATM.

I'm hoping (like the rest of you) that we still have a hunger to finish as high up the ladder as possible, and don't try and just wing our way through the remaining games ... knowing we're safely in the top 8.

Hopefully Hook has them primed and ready (again)

Agree. I hope Hook has them primed and wanting to fight hard in the hope that our final home game against Manly is a play off for 2nd.

Way things are going, that may well give us a home final against St George-Illawarra, which I would prefer than Wests Tigers or Warriors, one of whom I think will finish 6th.

Interesting stat...if the Broncos manage to win their last 3 games they'll have an 18-6 record, which is their best record since 2000 (18-2-6). Only seasons where the Broncos have lost less than 6 games are 1990 (16-1-5), 1992 (18-4), 1995 (17-5), 1996 (17-4), 1997 (14-1-3) and 1998 (18-1-5).

Shows just how dominant those 1990s teams were, hey?

We've lost our last two up there but Newcastle have been pretty hot and cold lately so it's just a matter of which Knights side turns up. If we're any chance of snaring second spot we need to win this game but more importantly we need to keep stringing some quality games together leading into the finals.

I'll back us to win in a close one.
