Not much of a game really. Dogs employed just about the only gameplan they could and just tried to spoil Souths momentum and they nearly succeeded.
However, that kick out on the full from Hodkinson proved costly and Souths were able to put it away.
I think tonight was a test for Souths and while it was far from comprehensive, they came up with the right answers tonight. They'll need to be better down the line.
As do the referees. They let far too much go tonight and their performance contributed to a frustrating game of football.
Well, if the dogs try was called back for a forward pass, the Burgess try certainly should have been. I maintain that Keary was tackled before he passed the ball off the ground.
It's also annoying to hear the commentary be so biased towards the (Ray) Warrens.
All in all, a terrible game and it felt like just enough is being done to get Souths the minor premiership.
The Dogs went out there to niggle and to put Souths of their game and they did this quite effectively for most of the game as Souths didn't put away a struggling team till the last 10 minutes. Souths are a top team no doubt but if you can get over them through the middle you can halt their progress quite well. They are a team that are powerful through the middle with GI and the Burgess boys. A-Reynolds didn't play very well behind a forward pack that was being outmuscled.
What the Bulldogs did tonight, that's what Broncos should have done.
When you give them a taste of their own medicine, they can't handle it.
It will be interesting to see what Luke gets for striking out with the foot. I think Reynolds got a Grade 1 charge? I wonder if Luke will get the same..
