Huge blow for the Raiders with Blake Austin out indefinitely.

For what? Terrible goatees?

No if it was with regard to those terrible goatees it would be for crimes against humanity. He got injured during a defensive training session during the week forcing him to have hand surgery.

At least that is the cover story, I heard it was more a case of over stimulation if you catch my drift.

Kicking off the round we have the Canterbury Bulldogs playing the North Queensland Cowboys at Belmore Park. The last time these two teams met, the Cowboys dished up a reality check to the Bulldogs. 36-0 in what was the Cowboys best performance of the season. On that night, Johnathan Thurston was untouchable. His ability to force repeat set broke the Bulldogs, allowing the Cowboys to cruise for the majority of the second half.

That result has to be playing in the mind of coach Des Hasler and his men. The loss knocked the Bulldogs down a peg and while they put together 3 consecutive wins, their performances weren't as convincing as they had been prior. If they're to rescue their season, tonight has to be the catalyst and they'll have to do it without super-sub Sam Kasiano following his suspension.

On the other side of the coin, the Cowboys had the opposite reaction. They went on a 3 game losing streak, before weathering the storm with a strong 34-6 victory over the Warriors. It was a timely win for the Cowboys, resurrecting their bid for back-to-back premierships and at the forefront that night was Kiwi sensation Jason Taumalolo. Taumalolo tore through his fellow country men, racking up an explosive 215m, a figure that was complimented by James Tamou's 231m. It was an impressive performance, but they'll have their hands full tonight against the Bulldogs.

Still, I can see the Cowboys winning this game. They're a far more structured side, with better players in key positions. The Bulldogs won't lie down like they did last time and they'll fight hard to make the Cowboys earn it. Ultimately it will be their last tackle options that will prove the difference, with the class of Thurston & Coote shining through.

About time fullback is where Hayne plays best.

Must have caught him by surprise, making a tackle.

Jarryd Hayne has been hated on like Jesus in his own words don't you know.

Getting to the pointy end of tipping comps. I'm in a decent one at the golf club ( winner to receive around $1500) and 1 point off 3rd and 3 off 1st.

Anyone else tipping the chooks this week to beat Sharks.?

I've put a cheeky $20 on the Bulldogs to win. Something tells me they'll be up for this one but logic tells me I just flushed a twenty down the toilet.

**** me even the players know it's not a try.

Good work Eastwood, nearly bombed it though had support in Reynolds and didn't use him but managed to get through.

Lovely pass Morgan..

And who was that player that made that Dave Taylor effort at tackle on Eastwood?
