PRE-GAME Round 3 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

I like Asiata as a player; very natural, capable and skilful.

That said, how bad is Milford going that by round 3 a handy ball playing lock is quite possibly considered a better choice at six than your million dollar, and for the most part, marquee flop.

Wow.
I mean he was terrible last night but most of us on here thought he was very good in the first round.

last night was abysmal tho

That's the thing though. No more 'give it another week' for him. He has to be good, very good, every single week or else.

I think Kevv will stick with him, but he should probably be dropped for next week.

I thought he was good for around 35mins last week and then, like clockwork, vanished like Houdini.
I'm just going off the results of the player of the round thread.

Mate, I admire your loyalty to him, but you might be flogging a dead horse I am afraid.
If he plays like he did last week consistently no, if he plays like he did last night consistently, yes.

Just to early to call imo.

So we can be clear, in your books, how long does he get to prove consistency one way or the other?

The problem is he is the type of player who plays best on unstructured footy. As much as people like to think it that is not a halves job, yes they run, can make slick tricky passes and whatnot but they are not expected to play how Milford naturally does. If that were to happen 1. There would be no structure- no control, discipline & organisation. That’s not the way he thrives. I don’t know how people can’t work it out. With all the talent in the team, it is pivotal that they get a firm marshalled half-one to head the team in an affirmative direction. Yes Croft can help to an extent but he is also a natural free flowing type of player. He’s got aspects of a controlled, smart player and is also scintillating & dangerous with raw talent. It’s a heap of pressure to rely on him for though and having too many options affects his instinct to come up with the right call which is what makes him such a threat and a talented playmaker. They just need playmakers to settle things down, apply repeat pressure and let the natural ability of the players around (which are aplenty) to assert their attacking influence whilst guiding them in a disciplined direction. Give Tommy Dearden a crack at half, for a young player he had an impressive amount of maturity and level-headedness (sure there are some things he could work on as with all players, but he’s the type who’ll take it on board and run with it) Give Croft the #6 and Milf a go at fullback where he can be so elusive & surround him with back-up players. They got one of the fastest squads, I’m sure there will be a runner or two lurking up in support. Also some high-flying guys who can give Milf a hand under those big kicks. From what I’ve seen Milf is a great defensive fullback, having the skill of reading the play (which makes it seem like he could be suitable as playmaker), he’s 99% of the time in the right spot. I’ve been saying this for years and years 😔🤦‍♀️. Work on their goal line D, communicate!! Other than that I see positive signs all round, a heap of young guns- older familiar heads giving them a run for their money and they don’t lack determination & effort!! That’s for sure!

It's hard to say, if he goes on a run of 7/10 games and then puts in a game like last night, everyone only focuses on the shit game. Like last week everyone was saying he played well and then the whole team has a shocker last night and milf is suddenly 'the worst signing in broncos history'.

We should have won last week against a team that just be the storm on the back of Milf but Croft had the ball slip through his fingers. He 'disappeared' in the second half yet he made the line break that should have iced the game in the second half.

Don’t hedge your bets. You’ve been very quick to judge other players so after 6 years of Milford, the wait and see approach has well and truly expired.

Put a deadline on him. After all, that’s literally what Walters will have to do.

I don’t have to do shit.

The only other players I’ve been quick to ‘judge’ have been Croft, who most agree is very limited, and Dearden, who all I’ve said is that he’s been average which most would also agree with.
