POST GAME [Round 4, 2024] Broncos vs Cowboys

Good win. Shows that even without Walsh and Haas, if we can play solid footy we can still be competitive. It’s a long season, we should still have very high hopes.

In terms of players…
Willison could be anything… enormous potential and can’t wait to see him get some more game time.

If Oates can prove he can sufficiently cover second row, while also providing outside back cover then he’s a very valuable bench piece and should remain in the 17. I’d like to give him that chance over continuing to give minutes to Tapau.

Also, as much as it may be an unpopular opinion… we should be doing anything we can to bring Dearden back to take over from when Reynolds retires.

He was only offside a little bit. That’s to make up for the one in the first half when we scored and the ref said it was forward
Doesn't that picture you're referring to show that he is clearly onside? Back foot of Oates is clearly behind the ball when kicked or have the rules changed?

Great game. Willison really showing he deserves a bench spot when the troops are back.

If Corey can actually learn to be able to knock out 20-25 min on the edge / potentially in the middle then he should take Kobe’s bench spot. Offers versatility to the backline if a back goes down.

Personally I don't want Dearden back, but he was outstanding in a losing side and his try saver on Cobbo is a highlight reel replay for the next decade.

Naww all good wolfie. I had the same egg on my face during the GF lol. Fed it to a panthers supporter at the pub and had to eat my fair share of dirt. Take it like a man champ and just admit you were wrong this week. Nobody likes a bad sport! I make shit calls all the time and the first to admit when I'm wrong! All in good fun.
I don’t know what Wolfie said exactly that he is apparently wrong about but I’ve been critical of Sailor and I still feel the same way. He had a good game, and put away the selfish flashy plays and did his job well. I gave him credit for that but one game doesn’t change it all. I still wouldn’t want him as a full time NRL fullback if I were the coach of any club.

I think Staggs has been the form centre in the comp just quietly. He’s been unreal in defence and had his moments in attack. He looks to be taking more of the grunt work on out of trouble too.

Surely he gets into the nsw side if he keeps this form up.

They'll go with Stephen Crichton and one of Turbo/Latrell.

I don't agree with it but Kotoni is paying the price for being a NSW player at a QLD club.

Dearden or mam I don't think we ever would have looked back if we kept dearden. Mam is ours now and I'm happy about it. He's different to dearden but he brings his own style which compliments our team.

With Reynolds we can afford to have someone with a bit of flair, someone who dares to try a kick and chase.

Dearden is a bit more high percentage, I would say.

I don't think there's anything we can do, to be perfectly honest.

They've just made him their captain, I can't see them wanting to sign Valentine Holmes on another contract, they're paying a million dollars for a centre. Can see that money going towards Dearden's next contract.

The thing with Klein's reasoning is that it's not really backed by evidence. Townsend had barely run passed Feldt when Ezra is interfered with.

This is when Feldt interferes with Ezra. Townsend is just about in line with Feldt.

In fact, if you look at Feldt, he actually steps into the path of Ezra. Now you could make an argument that he's getting out of the way of Townsend, but he still steps into the path of Ezra in doing so. Feldt can't disappear, but you also can't interfere with a defender whether intentional or not.

It's that final step that makes me think Feldt was doing it with the intention of slowing down Ezra.

If Ezra has a clear direct line to Townsend, I think he's pretty good odds of shutting down that attacking play. I don't see how it's not an obstruction.

If it's not an obstruction it's a shepherd or a blocker.
Feldt can't disappear but he shouldn't be standing in the defensive line and Townsend cant run at that space where Feldt is.
If Ezra takes a dive it's probably maybe a different outcome.

Wolfie does famously love sharing the road.

I thought Kobe was actually one of our better players last week. Much improved over the first two rounds.
I might have got my dates wrong on Kobe. I just recall him having a markedly poor run recently in stark contrast to this last run, which was really impressive.

Haven't seen much that suggests he's a halfback, I like him as a running 6 but we've already got one of those. I don't mean this as an insult but he reminds me of Brooks in a way.
I think Reynolds said this week mam will eventually transition to half back. If that happened we’d be looking for a running 6.

Being a Broncos supporter = bliss!
