Watched the game back after getting home last night.

We need to find a way to be better on short dropouts and kickoffs. I know this is nothing new for us, its been a thing for years now, but I think we'd have to be the worst at it.

We need some coaches watching the best teams and either copying or finding a way to be better.

The couple short dropouts they tried, we had Mariner basically off the pitch to try and run, jump, catch but he wasn't even getting close due to the traffic ahead of him in the drop zone. Herbie dropped a chest catch on one of them. Then the short kick off late they won the ball back with absolute ease.

There's gotta be something in that we can work on..

Would be amazing to just see Riki launch Mariner in the air to catch it Union line out style, but unsure of the legalness of that tactic. But you get the idea, we need to try something different.

Hmm I seem to remember an offload in the '23 GF that changed the momentum with 20 odd to go.

Re Aubs .
That average got blown out by backing up a break last night and running 40 metres .
He actually averages about 5 metres if you take out that one run .
Can put a hit on when he`s defending , but gets left on the ground at the ruck too often for my liking .
Talty played his best game of the season last night .

I have always a had a soft spot for Kodi. Possibly my absolute fave currently playing ex-Bronco.

I always like to see him play well.

I think the reactions about Mam are too harsh (mostly).

Definitely not playing anywhere near where we want him to be, but he isn't in 'throw him on the scrap heap' territory either

That kick on the first tackle (or second?) to the right to score a try showed both vision and execution

Mam's still got it, you don't just forget how to play, he just needs to bring it out more often/consistently

I don't think they are. He's not some junior just coming through the ranks anymore. He needs to be bench at the very least, to remind him that playing like a busted asshole isn't alright at his level.

He looks like he's playing injured. That leg has been strapped for like 2 seasons now.

I think you're right. He is in the 17 but more like a 14.
He is at 5/8 but he's not the guy I would want with the ball in his hands to win a game at the death.
That kick for Staggs was a ripper but 1st tackle? If we don't score ( and I think we got a very lucky decision) that's a horrendous decision.

We need a running threat besides Walsh so for now that's what saves him along with very winnable games the next 2.
I hope he comes good with game time because we are a very dangerous side with Mam playing to his best.

So setting up tries and stopping them is not good enough ?
Who would you replace him with ? Hunt , Rogers ?

Boyd has been mediocre for the majority of his career and only after a fair amount of time is putting a few decent games together.
