Round 4 Discussion

Penrith didn't even play that well and still ran out comfortable 26-0 victors.

The scorelines should get closer as the season progresses and hopefully Newcastle/Canberra and Manly/Parramatta can live up to the hype. Otherwise fans are just going to tune out in droves.

I can't imagine how bad it will be once teams are out of contention.

Another blowout coming up here by the looks of it. What is the go with Damian Cook and this rule change? Shouldn't he be a dog in mud right now?

The rule doesn't suit specific teams, it just suits everyone who gets it. It's not really about a quick play the ball after, it's just the extra tackles against a defence that needs a breather. I'd say if you ask every club in the opposition 20 if they'd rather get a penalty or an instant restart of the tackle count, everyone would easily go with the latter (unless they really want the 2). I'd argue that even receiving one tackle less for it when on the attack is better than letting the defence rest and re-organise.

Offsides aren't being as heavily scrutanised and the Roosters were allowed to fall asleep on Murray last week. It seemed like Klein legitimately forgot about the rule until late in the second half. Murray is the best exponent of the play the ball, which is what Cook fed off of.

Good hit-back by Souths.

The last thing Melbourne needed was to defend their own line. Coming off an extended set of six after their failed strip, Hughes threw a shocking pass and Souths just caught Melbourne out around the fringes. Great shifts, and a wonderful finish by Johnston to sneak it in.

Why the **** is "AAMI Park" cheering so loud when Souths scores? XD

It's added by the TV stations and since this gimmick is suppsoed to enhance the experience, they'll use it anytime it can be justified.

**** me dead everything about the footy this season is just mindnumbing and infuriating.

Quality pass by Latrell.

Mind you, asides from that he has been better.

Latrell with another huge error right as Melbourne were shot to pieces.

Melbourne look well off the pace here.

Souths doing their best to invite Melbourne back into this.

The ruck has been pretty ugly as well. No six agains against Melbourne.

I hope a lot of five eighths took note of what Munster just did right there. The ruck defence from Souths was ordinary, but Melbourne were absolutely struggling when Munster took it upon himself to run out of dummy half and conjure up something.

Was going to say he was really starting to show his limitations after that insipid inside pass to Olam and the intercept to Johnston, but that's what he brings. He's like a fleet footed Reynolds.

Put another vote against Anasta in the worst commentary.

"It's a nice kick from Jarhome"

Kicks on 2nd tackle, which went straight to Johnston who muffed it completely...

If Johnston collects that ball instead of looking like gumby, Bellamy might've gone onto the field to hook Hughes himself

Something I wish Milf would do... Munster seeing things slowing down and decides to get in there and take a run himself.

If you're a ball running half you should be looking for any opportunity to attack off the ruck when the markers are disorganized

He did it early in the game and I thought it was a great sign and thought the Broncos were showing some good smarts around the new rule.

Then they just never had any ball or territory until it was much too late.

Yeah I recall him taking one within the first 2 or 3 sets and he made some useful meters.

I think it's one of the other issues that we currently have which is our outside backs aren't making enough meters or getting any momentum in the early tackles whilst the forwards are getting back.

Milford getting in there as one of the better runners who can break a tackle and find an offload would be very handy taking dummy half runs to get involved.
