Round 4 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Some of the reports seem to vindicate what Twiztid said -- the injury is apparently so bad that it caused his skin to split.

I hate to mention it, but a few people on other forums have mentioned that this could be a career ender. Is that possible? probable?

TL;DR - Reffing was alright? Are you serious bro?!

One of those games that really showed me why I love this game and this team. Only round 4 and to show that much heart was phenomenal.

It's all been said but really, some of the worst refereeing I've seen in the first half. Gillette is machine. Hunt has been all over Macca this year. Hoffman is going from strength to strength. Hannant once again showing more heart than anyone in the competition.

As to script this year, pretty weak first half, and a fantastic second half. Wallace is really stepping up this year. Best he has been since his first year with us. I just hope we can start to click a little earlier in the games. Probably Normans worst game this year. Not that he was bad, just that he didn't really get involved. Apart from the first try, his defence was good. Hodges was more noticeable in defence than attack which is a bit reversed for him.

And as with everyone, jesus do I feel bad to Jharal. My girlfriend was almost in tears next to me. That was absolutely awful and I couldn't wish him any more luck in his recovery.

I'm absolutely loving this post Lockyer broncs season. There is so much to look for in games.

Obviously we're not doctors, but just from looking at the incident, it's definitely a thought that goes through your head. Looking at the replay, you can almost see the bone sticking out of his socks, with his foot bending in the opposite direction.

His bone pierced the skin, could see the blood on his sock when it happened. The more I think about it, the more queasy I become - it's a terrible thing thing to happen. It'll be a long, long rehabilitation for Jharal - even just regaining his ability to walk properly..

And quickly again, on Yow Yeh's injury. It without doubt broke skin. There was plenty of blood in his sock/boot.

For those who really want to see it again, here is a pic. Obviously, it is pretty graphic so be warned.

Broken legs aren't necessarily career enders. He is lucky he has almost a full year before the next season. I think the biggest hurdle will be confidence in the air. Could also be some long term damage to his top speed/acceleration...

Brisbane has outscored its opponents 64-18 across all second halves this season ...

Yes I do. Try being a Souths supporter and getting the wort of the refs, you guys had nothing. However complain if you will. In the 2nd half they had plenty of chances to call more for both teams and failed to do so. I could say those calls could have helped us possibly get those points we needed to keep the game in our favour. However I won't because we failed to score when we had the chance and we had a fair few chances and were stopped by great defence.

not to say all breaks are the same but ive had a compound fracture of the leg, i was lucky because the Australias head orthopedic surgent was visiting the hospital at the time and he perfomed the operation. Average strength you get back is about 75-80% same with speed but you loose most of your side way movement and all the flexibility.

Winners are grinners but dead-set that post just comes off as baiting.

There's been a few football (or soccer as we call it here) players who have suffered similar injuries to Yow Yeh and managed to come back without any real repercussions - for instance, back in 2004, Djibril Cisse's leg break was quite horrific - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cF4-rI_LjU - then a couple of years later, he broke his right leg in almost the exact same manner - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5LFqJOj03k - and he's still playing today!

Obviously rugby league is a lot more physical, but modern science and medical stuff is absolutely top notch these days, so you'd like to think they'll be able to get him fixed up alright. Mentally though, it'll be an almighty challenge for Jharal to recover. I can't imagine how I'd feel looking down at my leg and seeing the bone sticking out... ergh, pretty sure I'd vomit or something.

Will post more tomorrow but felt compelled to pop up and claim that was probably the gutsiest win we've had in nearly ten years (since we beat Cronulla at ANZ Stadium all those years ago when it seemed like half of the team was injured). Built on pure heart and a willingness to stay in the contest until the very end. Wow!

Absolutley inspiring win the boys tonight. Souths on the charge fire out to 8-0, Reed is sinbinned for 10. Souths score and the margin is now 12 with the Broncos in dissaray. Jhareal soon comes off with a shocking injury. With the odds stacked against us the Broncos show that spirit that we are renowned for as we stick to our guns and come away with a courageous 20-12 victory. Brilliant effort from all the boys tonight, gonna call the club tommorow and say how proud i am of them.

Gutted for Jharal and wish him all the best. Brave brave guy and hope this doesn't affect him mentally too much

Just what to echo everyone, that was one of the greatest games I have watched. So proud of every single player they all stood up. I really couldn't be prouder. Love this team... always have and always will. They showed so much heart and guts and aahowed why their fans love them.

Such a horrifying injury for Yow Yeh. It was touching to see Thaiday and Hodges comforting him and gagai going with him in the ambulance. Inglis going over to grab his hand and give his support was a great thing to see.

GO BRONCOS!!!!!

Absoultely proud of the boys tonight

EVERYTHING went against us in the first 20mins BS sin bin followed by a BS blocker call which lead to a BS video ref decision.

Correct me if i'm wrong but players chasing a kick don't have to get out of the way of another player, they just can't change their line to impede a play. IMHO, the Broncos player that got penalized for blocking, once he had turned to chase the kick, always kept the same line, which he is entitled to do.

Hannant is having a great season this year, the chase to catch Reynolds tonight and to try and stop McManus last week were inspiring. surely he is on track to get his rep jumpers back.

Wallace is proving he has what it takes to lead this team, i'm quite happy to have him as our half back. his second half kicking game tonight was great.

Hoffman, well what can i say about him but Brilliant, a good chance to take that NZ jumper off Locke

Gillett is an important part of our team has the ability to come off the bench and lift our intensity and change the momentum of the game.

and big Sammy, our new skipper. another fine performance from him, whatever both Hook and himself said at halftime certainly did the trick. the right man to lead the club IMO.

this game tonight showed that we don't need Locky to get us back in the game when everything has gone against them at the start of the match. they are able to get themselves back into the game.

I hope Jharal recovers quickly from his horrific injury.

once again i want to say how proud i am to be a supporter of the mighty Broncos
