POST GAME Round 4 - Storm vs Broncos

Green. Lock Benji down for two years when we signed him. I'm sure with his pull he could have found someone, but he decided he could make Kodi/Milf work.

That said, Seibold completly gutted the club so it doesn't matter. But that's what Bennett did wrong - plus I think he was too easy on Milf, based on what I've read over the years.
Recent history has shown that the pommy bloke at Canberra would have been a good get.

And regardless of his off-field, which has been relatively fine since he went to Newcastle, but Pearce would have been a perfect foil for the type of player Milford is. But Bennett went out of his way to publicly declare Pearce was not the sort of player he wanted at the Broncos.

And you can understand why too. Why would you want a bloke who had played 250 odd games in the halves for a successful club to help steer your inexperienced team around the field...

I agree on the Benji thing but I don't think he's what we needed as a game manager. Green is a good shout, but did he ever want to come down this way? We really don't know.

7's are probably the hardest position to sign in the game, and 9's too. Once a club has a good one, it's damn near impossible to pry them away and as we've seen, they are ridiculously hard to develop. You can count on one hand the top tier 9's, fullbacks and 7's. They're just a rare commodity so sometimes you just have to coach the shit sandwich and see where time takes you.

He went to the Warriors though. Surely we could have enticed him.

I think Benji would have been perfect, showed some great signs at the back end of 2017.

Anyway, Wayne was bringing through some promising young forwards, and he probably would have found the right balance, whereas now we are stacked on forwards but light on backs.

In retrospect, we absolutely should have kept him. But for mine he has a role to play in how Milf has turned out. Not more than Milford himself though, that's for sure.

If I'm in charge I'm offering him 2 years 2 million dollars to come back as head of football and help Walters out. The board needs to **** off and accept they let their egos dominate their thinking and made an absolutely awful decision.

Walters is going to have the struggle of his life to turn this shit show around, he needs every bit of support he can get.

The entire team should have their hair cut like Ryan Papenhuyzen as punishment for that performance
I’d suggest that maybe that was the secret to being good except Turpin’s haircut was fucking awful and he still wasn’t playing like a winner at the time.

Watched on delay. Got to half time before spoiling the result and turning it off

we looked pretty good for about 25 mins.

Can we honestly just surrender the 2 points vs the Storm in future?

I just can’t get past the soft part though, as a team and individually there just seems to be no way they’re this bad, the only thing I keep coming back too and just by watching individual body language, there just doesn’t seem to be a single stoic person in this team, bar maybe riki.
Yes, we are sorely lacking a hard man like Webke, Tallis, Gilmeister, Carroll, Campion, etc.

They take shortcuts, getting caught around the ruck so they don’t have to get back 10, pretending to be impeded in kick chases so they don’t have to run down field, standing around watching the ball in the air instead of getting back to help defend it. There’s just soo many effort areas that we are lacking in. They think if they make their run or their tackle their jobs done and it’s now someone else’s turn. It’s not only the young guys either.
A perfect example of this is Milford; he flat out refuses to chase his own kicks. Just stands there, watches for a bit and then starts dawdling over toward where he will start the next defensive set. It’s fucking disgusting.

Nathan Brown from the Eels? We need a genuine, experienced hard nut forward. I reckon he'd be perfect. I'd happily give him 650 x 2 years.

You have a look at our team, is there any one player who you would say is a big talker and leader on the field? I'm not talking about aggressive defence or ball carries however more so general who holds the group accountable an demands the ear of the playing group. Every strong club has this.
Roosters - cordner when fit and friend also when fit and the list goes on to the likes of liu and the Morris brothers to a degree also
Storm - Munster and the Bromwich brothers
Rabbits - cook, Murray, walker, and even arrow off the bench now is a leader
Panthers have yeo, cleary and fisher harris
Eels, gutherson, rcg, mahoney, Moses.
Even the warriors have got it sorted now with Roger, fonua-blake and tohu Harris.
I look at our squad and they are all very quiet with no true leadership.

Same price a flegler LOL FML **** the person who signed that contract.

You're deluded if you think we aren't paying overs for every signing we even have a half chance of making for the foreseeable future. The club has made a rod for its own back by putting us in this hole.

Also as long as Peter Nolan is allowed to keep his job, we aren't getting near anyone of actual worth. That dickhead hack would need help tying his shoelaces.

Too meek.

I mean our performance was really bad but I always expect the storm to whoop us so this doesnt really feel any different to the last 5 years.
