POST GAME Round 4 - Storm vs Broncos

And Isaako, look at the effort paps puts in, he doesn’t just magically get the ball at the right time every time, he supports the ball every time for that one in six chance he gets the linebreak. It’s effort, and this side doesn’t have many blokes willing to make it, not once, but consistently throughout the game. That’s why they concede points instead of working themselves into the grind, it’s just easier to roll over and concede more. There’s no way out of it when we don’t have the experienced senior players making the rest accountable for their performance.
100% right. I cannot think of the last time we had a fullback that followed the ball. Hodges in 2006 maybe? 😞

I think if Milford hasn’t found any form by the time Staggs is back. Put Staggs in at 6. The only issue with a Staggs and Dearden halves pairing is neither of them can kick... dearden isn’t the answer...

id try and get Adam Reynolds or maybe someone in super league. We need someone who can kick well and at the moment Milford is by far the best kicker in our squad.

I’d honestly look to get Karmichael Hunt into the team. He would be a better 14 than anyone else we have and would actually show some leadership, he could even be the one that gives us a bit of a kicking game because he has a huge boot.

I tell you what, it’s going to be a real eye openings and I can’t even imagine how much it’s going to hurt on here if/when we ever drop Milford to Queensland Cup and we discover he can’t really be fucked trying or making an actual effort there either.

Like I said at the end of the game thread. I am done with Milford, so many fat 0's in effort areas and he ticks no boxes as a play maker. He is a prime example of being over coached, he never had a footy brain, he was a razzle dazzle off the cuff broken play type player who had some kicking and passing ability to add to it. We thought we could turn him into Darren and instead turned him into Dazza from Yandina pub footy, actually that is too kind, Dazza likely has a bit of ticker.

We all know our team has no balance, Dearden is just another kid who will not fix this and Croft is not much older. But I would put them together for a few weeks instead of just allowing Milf to continue churning through his partners. We have others that can be given a shot also, Because we can't just keep doing the same thing over and over thinking it's going to click. Its actually disgusting that Dearden has been viewed as the guy to fix it when we have a guy earning a million bucks already out there just shucking passes and floating bombs without variation, I honestly think communication on game day with Milf is impossible.

We have too many young guys learning on the go with nobody to look to for a way forward. The game plan was wrong I think and that is why our foward stats are so bad. We came out playing a brand of footy the Dogs found useful like six years ago with a front rower playing pivot. They needed to earn the right to go wide by dominating the middle and instead they played shuffle ball resulting in a lot of stupid errors.

This team needs to be basic, it should be about defense, defense, defense, turning up for your mate, hard running and low errors. You can build off that, but tonight gave them nothing but another black eye.

The next few weeks are all 100% unwinnable with the current set up. So now is the time to try something else Kev, give Milf a sitdown notice and somebody a chance to play without him for a change.

I was not sold on pursuing a.reynolds but our lack of direction and LEADERSHIP needs to be addressed immediately (even SJ- taking the cap into consideration i would consider the cheaper option).

I think we also need to restructure our team to get some other leaders and experience in our team even if they are not the most talented or "star" players. We need team players, not individuals.

I would look at investigating the following players who are gettable and would not break the bank: hynes, finucane (how has his availability not been reported!), ah mau, capewell, levi/walters.

Years ago newcastle thought they had the greatest youngest talent coming through and went for a team of talented youths and subsequently got multiple spoons. It wasnt until they brought experience in that they improved.

It was Croft-Milfs team for first 3 rounds.
Why the **** did the coach mess with that?!?
Cause that still wasn’t good enough... take a look at the side we sent out... every single one of those players (almost) would be one of the best at any other team yet you put them in a broncos jersey and they do bugger all... why? Cause none of them know what the **** to do... you put them in a good system they look like fucken pros theirs the difference between us and every top 8 club now how about the management fucken fox it

Milford has been clueless because he's been playing six and seven, handling all the kicking plus expected to support and score tries as well as mopping up after Darius for years at fullback in defence. He is completely burned out, it's that simple.
I agree he kicked 545 metres compared to dearden s 179 like wtf is that... the sole reason Dearden is in that team so early in his development is so that dumbass doesn’t have to do as much playmaking and brings a spark... like **** me dead

We were poor in parts but most of the team had good moments. At the moment we're still very much like a machine undergoing restoration. We have a lot of the components but need a few new bits.

I thought Isaako and Haas had quality efforts mostly. We fell away after twenty minutes and our primary mission was lost. We needed to match them in the forwards and I think the rotation and selection of our forwards was again lacking.

We didn't seem strong enough in the middle and it was so easy to keep running at our little guys. Dearden was clearly rattled before a ball was kicked and shouldn't have been out there. Milford and Dearden were marshmallows to the Storm. First contact was poor more often than not. We needed a hard centre and Lodge, Carrigan and Glenn followed by Flegler, TPJ and Te'o didn't cut it.

If we’re all working under the salary cap. Wtf had our money gone???
