"Samuela Fainu is a late scratching with Jack Bird starting in the back row and Tony Sukkar joining the bench."

I have no idea if this is a good or bad thing...

Fainu is a good player, but Jack is a former bronco... and even though he was overpaid and absolute garbage for us and has only played about 30 games in 3yrs, he will turn up like prime SBW playing in a GF

What this "crack down " will lead to is more off loads .
Why ? Because the modern upright ball and all hugger tackle stops the ball runner offloading .
All these guys head butting each other is a synptom of the modern tackling style . Coming into the tackle with their head up . Old school tackle you got your head out of the way as much as possible . Modern style over the top 1st contact . Shoulders colliding with heads and massive head butts often on their team mates .
A change needs to be made . How that is done I don`t know . But more off loads isn`t as bad as more concussions .

Don't care if we win by 4 or 40.

I just want the Broncos to keep Tigers to nill.

Broncos 4-0 would make my day.

Defend Defend Defend!

IT'S GAMEDAY!

The change is so bloody obvious - why didn't people think of it 100 years ago? They did....

A proper good old fashioned Rugby tackle around the mid-section/thighs.

The only issue is that defensive teams right now are penalised for doing so. They have to immediately release.

Fix? Give every tackle the same time - once momentum is stopped / player called held, there needs to be the same amount of time given for a good old fashioned tackle as there is for an upright / wrestle-mania nonsense tackle.

Simply make that correction and the problem goes away. If you hit a player with the intention of getting them to the ground as fast as possible, offloading becomes far riskier than if your upright, standing with a free arm.

It's crazy how much the NRL is against legs tackles. Not only do you have to release immediately but you are down a marker because tackling around the legs often means you end up to the side of the ball carrier. And with refs allowing players to take two or three steps forward nowadays you either have the choice of six again or be several metres behind the ruck at the play the ball.

Personally I'm more worried about Seyfarth. He's been good this year and has a knack for poking his nose through and being hard to bring down.

I can see him running a good line and getting put through a hole at some point in the game.

I too am a big fan of Seyfarth, extremely underrated.

Strong team. Hope Piakura steps up. Cannot believe Riki got 2 matches for his tackle.
