Round 5 Discussion

That's the problem, it doesn't say they need to re-gather it, unless I'm looking at the wrong rulebook. It just says contact needs to be made with the ball before it hits the ground. Frame by frame shows that's exactly what Dugan did. Going by the rulebook, it should have been a try.

I think they need to tweak the rule a little more.

In fact, a lot of the rules need a little work. Especially the obstruction.

3/7 so far this round, top of the work tipping comp (ties decided by guessing points margin). Would have been 2/7 but backed the Sharks to finally pull their fingers out.

Agree with the common consensus that it's been a pretty weird season thus far. I'm actually enjoying it though, unpredictability adds to the excitement. I suspect as teams adapt to the rules that we'll see the natural order of things return and the ladder look a bit more like years past.

With respect to the Titans, I doubt anyone would consider them the form team, but they're willing and able to get their hands dirty bell to bell. Their forward pack is well suited to the quicker ruck and their halves are half (Haha ) decent.

Tipping us to bounce back against them, but we'll need to be on our game. In our favour, I don't think they have the strike out wide that has been our weakest link thus far.

Kyle Feldt has been dropped by the Cowboys for tonight, as has Glenn Hall. Can understand Hall, but Kyle Feldt for Matthew Wright is a strange decision as I think he is a star in the making and has not played too bad except for a bad mistake last week. He is not injured either as he played ISC on Saturday.

Dumb decision to drop Feldt!

Also, I have to ask, has there ever, ever been a leader of the NRL after 5 rounds with a negative point differential?

The last team to do it was Canterbury in Round 16, 1953.

The only thing more surprising than that there was somebody who knew the answer is that the occurrence was so late in the season. Round 5 is one thing, but round 16? They have must been flogged when they did lose and scraped by when they won.

On Feldt, I'm quite bemused too. I haven't watched every minute of every Cowboys game, but he seems to have been doing his job. Maybe he had some poor defensive reads that I've missed?

Noticed that too as far as Titans F/A goes. Can't say if it's been done before, but it does look pretty weird. Think it speaks volumes about how convincing they've been thus far. Four ugly as sin wins and one towelling by the Tigers. They'll fall away soon enough. Starting Friday!

Feldt has been poor so far this year but he is worth persisting with.

Bugger that only 1 correct tip all weekend.

Tipping is impossible this year

It's a weird season mate. Courier Mail reported also that on stats, Cowboys should be leading the comp. I would hate to be a pro sports gambler at this stage.

LOL not surprising... Super Freak as a bit of a lurker here before I decided to post yesterday, I railed with your many ups and down a couple of weeks ago when you picked the 8 in a multi for a very decent win. Always pays to know where to get a few stats from as well as gut instinct when it comes to picking a winner... :)

Well they did pull their finger out tonight. Finally! Hope they can chalk up a few more wins.

Can't see the Cowboys maintaining a position anywhere near the top though. Consistency is always an issue.

They did real well tonight, and even more surprisingly it was not JT that did the damage, rather seemed like their lesser performers like Lui,Thompson and Morgan controlled the game. Hard to pick this year so who knows where the musical chairs will stop.

It's a punter's dream! The games are almost a lottery yet you can get $3.00+ on an 'outsider' who's in reality a 50/50 chance.
