PRE-GAME Round 5 - Titans vs Broncos

There's a smart ass, agenda driven comment about the Knights form I could make there, but I think I'll refrain

It'd just make you look stupid if you did.

A) The Knights looked great towards the end of last season (under Wayne)

B) We're winning games this year that we would've lost last year

The whole "Bennett isn't a good coach anymore!" agenda is really starting to lose it's relevancy, unfortunately for you.

The main reason we didn't finish in the top 4 last year was our inability to close out games... the last two weeks have shown that we haven't improved in that area.

How did we not close out the Warriors game? Sure they came fired up in the second half and had all the ball and momentum.

Ben hunts grubber to get the drop out essentially sealed the game, how is that not closing out the game?

We were very lucky to win that game our a combination of our quality first half and the poor Warriors first half, through in a few refs decisions that for once went our way and you have the readon we won.

The Cowboys also put on a pile of points in the second half ...

As i said it was good to get the wins, but iur second halves haven't been good by any stretch of the imagination... Hopefully we improve on that tonight.

Drop it guys, please. There's a thread just for discussing Bennett, tag each other in that thread and continue there if you want to have that discussion.

Now onto the game - which is tonight... (I'm not going off early today lynx000)

Can't wait! This is the kind of game in the last few years I've always been nervous about, when we play a shit team and we're expected to win but then we play awful and get beaten. I hope the attitude is right and we hammer the Titans, just to make more of a mockery of Meninga rating the Titans as the best QLD team this year...

How good would it be to win 4 in a row and start off the season 4/5?

We've won the last 2 weeks lmfao..

We don't really know the context of that quote. It could have been in relation to the reports that Vidot was on the outer and wanted a release.

The media could have edited out part of what Bennett said.

And Vidot could be lazy and uncommitted, which is why he never got back in the team (and if thats the case, then fair enough)... But since we're not at training every day, we'll never know.

I remember 1910 saying that Vidot didn't go to Jets training after Broncos training whereas another QLD Cup player did. Maybe it was some kind of WB test that Vidot failed? Total speculation on my part there.

Putting those quotes together it probably makes the most sense. Maybe this week Vidot did actually step up and go to ISC training, so when Kahu went down, Bennett was willing to reward him. It's a great lesson, though lucky timing for Vidot, but that's often all it takes. I'm still hopeful that Bennett is testing him. Did any article say why the Rabbits deal fell through? Maybe Bennett had a heart-to-heart with him and told him it's not over yet. Or suggested to the Broncos to deny the release for the same reason. It's looking increasingly unlikely that he'll stay, but if Vidot does in fact play on the weekend it'll keep that hope alive. I still remember when Kemp was finally named on the wing for a game, everyone rejoiced, only for him to be replaced on game day... Different coach though, and that's not a dig at either, just it is what it is.

Woohoooo spwn, good to see you have your excitation issues sorted, nothing worse than premature excitation. And I am pumped as well, I want us to put them away and not let up in the second half.

We've won the last 2 weeks lmfao..

We've had 1 big loss, 1 big win, and two very close wins (one against the spoon favourites).

I can see the improvement, but it's very early in the season to be getting carried away one way or the other...

What i want to see tonight:

Continue our good first halves

Not falling asleep at half time

Vidot to put in a good performance and show why he should keep getting selected.

Ruthlessness.

Milford continuing to imprive at 5/8

Bird getting knocked on his ass repeatedly.

... and run Milford, run.

How many times should he run?

NRLStats.com have him down for 12 runs.

While Prozone (via Big League magazine) has him down for 16 runs.

So let's say it's 14 runs, that's actually more than Josh Hoffman who was used primarily as a running five eighth.

I don't think it's his running game that's letting him down. If anything, Milford needs to help Ben Hunt out more with the playmaking duties. Out of every half in the competition, none have put in as many kicks as Hunt. Considering his kicking game is considered a weakness, the stat is alarming and Milford really needs to take some of the pressure off Hunt.

I agree Pete with your premise. The problem is, Milford is a player who is at his best when taking advantage of the space created by others. Except he's playing a position where his primarily role is to create space for others.

As for kicking, he's a pretty ordinary long kicker, so unless he's worked on that in training I don't think it will help much.
