Round 6 - Titans v Broncos - Post Match Discussion

What I thought about the game..

Macca, Hunt, Gillet, Thaiday, Vidot, McGuire all had pretty good games.

Parker and Hodges had a shocker, but two of best just about every other week so what can you do...

Hoffman had a Barry Crocker what else do i need to say..

Barba had ups and downs, saved that try with his feet/boots but let that one in during the most critical period.

Reed had his best game of the year although it was nothing to get excited about.

Glenn was generally quiet, besides that try he helped Hunt score.

Hannant and Kennedy didn't seem to get us the metres we needed.

Oates played well from the bench!

And then everyone else was pretty average...

Player wrap up;

1) Barba, absolute rubbish. There isn't a kasiano, pritchard, tolman or graham doing the hard yards for him to look good off anymore.
2) Vidot, scared to leave his wing and is simply not a bronco. Canberra threw him away and so did the dragons.. What does that say
3) Reed, tries hard in defense but his attacking ability is zero.
4) Hodges, no where near a 100% fit so cant really blame him.
5) Copley, he should go back to the centres in place of reed.
6) Hoffman, poor guy is terribly out of position. Get rid of barba and put hoffman back to full back.
7) Hunt, He was the only one that looked threatening all night.
8) Mcguire, tried hard all game.
9) Macca, tackled like a machine but lacks explosiveness out of dummy half.
10) Parker, what a waste playing him as a designated prop. Move him back to 13 so he doesn't have to do the donkey work on tackle 1 or 2.
11) Alex Glenn, yawn...... This guy refuses to leave his left edge, he peaked several years ago and is just an also ran now.
12) Thaiday, again he tried hard in an average team effort.
13) Gillett, Looked to be an off night for him. They should shift him to the left edge and get rid of glenn.
14) Kennedy, Over rated and over paid......................
15) Lowrie, SERIOUSLY.. the old boys would be cringing that he is wearing a broncos jumper.
16) Hannant, looked better in patches tonight than what he has done so far this year. But looks to be at the end.
17) Oates, Well this is where i'm totally bemused. He is the primary strike weapon in the forwards and yet he doesn't get any game time at all....What sort of brain dead person only uses 16 players in a fast and physical match and leaves someone with the game breaking ability of oates on the bench the whole 80 minutes...

Now for the coaches;

Steve Kearney; Horse S!*t, he ruined the eels and is now doing the same here.
Kurt Richards, I'm not sure this guy knows the front end from the back of a scrum.... Yet somehow has ended up in a position of power in the club.
Griffin, Well I don't think I need to say to much cause everyone else knows how rubbish he is.... He cant coach and is blinded by loyalty to over rated players...

Vidot scared to leave his wing? Not a bronco. You are watching a completely different game to just about everyone

the absolute lack of attack from the titans made our defense look good. im not saying it was bad, but they simply threw nothing at us.

I think thats what makes this loss feel even worse.

Barba's form has been awful because there is nothing if front of him to play. Our best off loader is playing prop. Our halves are creating jack shit for him. It's like we are just passing the ball to him and expecting something magical from him.

I'm sick of these mid field mis guided bombs. How fucking boring?

We lack creativity. There has got to be a half back and 5/8 playing in Q Cup somewhere that is better than our back up hooker and winger that we have in those respective positions now.

Well not with Griffin at the helm and griffinball the default game plan. Both of those players don't benefit from grinding.

absolutely agree. barba at the dogs fed off the forwards. the dogs when in form play with a mob mentality where they all roll forward as a group and barba was able to reap the rewards.

defense is all over barba every time he gets the ball because there is simply no other questions being thrown at them. its not hard to stop a little bloke like barba when you know he's getting the ball by express post.

If hoffman is at 5/8 again next week then Griffen must be on another planet.There is just no chance any good can come of it. The most annoying thing is that he never looks like breaking through on his ball hogging escapades up the middle.I thought Hunt was ok ,but the Titans really pressured him on his kicks because he is our only kicker.Barba had a poor night.It was a bit disappointing to see old Bull Bailey round him up easily on a kick chase. ButI see no other option but to move Barba to 5/8 and Hunt to the wing (not fullback).Hodges needs to come off the bench for the next few weeks till he sharpens up. Yeah Give Maranta a crack at fullback. One positive was our quick play the balls and strong hit ups but yes I know there must be more to our attack then five hit ups and a half arse bomb.I think we can still win some games this year but we really are not top four material.

Completely agree with this. He still needs to be dropped.

Also agree 100% with the Barba at the dogs comment. Opponents know the ball is going behind the back straight to Barba each and every time. Bloke has fucking nothing to work with.

He's still been piss poor, but the blame doesn't lay solely with him.

People have the idea that he is "a good defensive centre" so yeah all he has to do is tackle to satisfy his fanclub

I thought Reed was one of our better players in the second half and seemed to be thinking a lot more than his colleagues. (eg. doing everything to ensure Mead hit the ground first before he tackled him).

That was until he grubber kicked ahead on tackle three completely spoiling an opportunity.

Wally Lewis on commentary constantly labels him as one of the best defensive centres in the game. It's a joke, as he is far from it.

He's a glorified shirt grabber just as often as he pulls off his great defensive efforts.

Copley is imo much much better.

Prince retired.

Jokes at Wallace's expense aside, I think maybe Prince retiring caught them off guard.

Didn't they tell Prince he'd be playing in the reserves, always got the impression he was pushed rather than voluntary retirement.
