Whatever we do, we need to start fast and keep the line speed up. The Dogs have already (through their social media) made it plain that they intend to 'ambush' us at Lang park. We need to ensure we negate that idea.

With three genuine ball players (4 if we count Billy) in our 17 it looks like we intend to move the ball around and tire out their big forwards like TPJ. I'm expecting Reyno to kick early too and ensure they're constantly having to double back on every play.

If we can complete our sets like the opening of the Penrith game (10/10) we'll go a long way to gassing this mob which will allow us to then run up a fairly healthy score against them.

It is imperative that we pressure Burton's kicking game whilst keeping our discipline in check. TMM's body is not ready for NRL defence so we need to try and keep them out of our 20m zone as much as possible.

I like the new look team and feel it's better balanced than past teams this year. Fullback is only a 33% chance of getting through without ****-ups.

If Haas plays his average game and Jensen plays an up tempo average game I think we'll get the early running from the ref. Gamble loves to just pick up and run hard first against any retreating defence so if Paix and our centres are awake we can bust them. Reno can ice the sets.

I will be flabbergasted if KW's heavy bench is well managed and I'm guessing it will be Flegler and Palasia on for Jensen and Riki followed by Kennedy for Haas at around 30 minutes. Walters most likely will relieve Paix but if it goes like I think it may KW might not want to change him before half time. We win this match.
3 props on the bench though?

I think Turpin biggest weakness isn't his running game but his decision making. He seems to take an age to make up his mind on what he is going to do. Good hookers already have a plan before they pick up the ball. This hesitation and lack of planning is what removes the opportunity to go for a run out of dummy half.

And by planning I mean reading our attack, reading the defensive line and knowing where the ball means to go.

In short, Turpin isn't quick between the ears.
This is so true. So often we have had the opposition's halfback or centre in at marker and there has been an opportunity down the short side, but turpin only goes up the open side.

He just misses opportunities.

The top hookers you can see look at the defensive line when the tackle is being completed and react accordingly. Jake is looking at the next person the structured set tells him to pass to.

Definitely interested in seeing how Paix, Gamble, and TMM step up and if Flegler can keep disciplined.
Also liking Jensen starting.
I think Piakura will be in the 17 once he recovers and gets some time in QCup.
Robati will probably also benefit from longer mins in reggies.

I think they made a movie about this called "Dinner for Schmucks"
Fun fact: the literal translation of the original (Le Dîner de Cons) is The Dinner of *****.

Being a good defender is great. No team does anything in the comp unless you defend well.

But that isn’t why Turpin gets no respect, it’s because he literally has nothing else in his game. No team that aspires to finals football has a hooker that racks up zero run or kick metres.

His service is ordinary as most noted and even other team fans notice how slow he is getting the ball out to his runners. His lack of threat contributes to the pressure our halves are under and allow other teams to defensively target Reynolds in particular who has to shoulder all of the organising and attacking burden because Turpin literally offers nothing in that regard.

When you look at the weeks he has actually had a run or 2 they usually result in nothing more than a poor one out run, because he has no pace, size, or footwork to speak of. No apparent kicking game in any real form (short, long, chip kicks, grubbers or bombs) and no other tricks up his sleeve that might provide a spark of attacking creativity. He is a ‘stand an deliver’ hooker, whose delivery sucks…

That is not good enough for the NRL and neither is he at the moment.

They say similar over in the Dog Kennel about their hooker .
And Trent Barret is not popular either . Sliding doors ?

Apparently 4 players have tested positive this morning

Kobe Hethrington at 9 is the answer. It's outside the box but our best option, goes to show our lack of talent at 9.
No, it’s really not. He may have played there, but that doesn’t make him a hooker. Did you see him play 9 at all? He was about as effective as Oates playing back row.

Hopefully all their good players are out. God chance to get our for and against squared away. As long as we show them respect and don’t shit the bed
