I don't think Pat would have won. Just take it on the chin and move on.

We still have a fair side we putting out. Fix the D and we are right in it.

Is riki out as well? Without headgear magic we are getting pummeled. Hopefully by less than 50

He may well have lost the downgrade appeal, not even saying it would have been a slam dunk win. But there is already examples this year, of similar tackles getting off, with similar circumstances (No HIA).

Club can't just continue to be scared of going to the judiciary, thinking they'll always cop the additional week, if they don't give it a shot now and then when there's at least some chance. At least then you have that in your back pocket too if we go, it fails and the club can start to ask questions about why they are always failing but other clubs haven't, if you want to go that route.

Who knows, maybe we did get a tip off it would fail, and thats why it took a few days for us to announce intentions. I still think somehow Panthers got a tip off they would succeed, which is why they didn't bother hiring a lawyer. Both Madge and Patty were pretty adamant post game about it not being much he could have done, chest first etc. So something has changed and I doubt it's just looking at the vision.

I just think this one was worth a chance.

Starting side will still look pretty good. As long as Bukowski handles the ruck well. And I hope Madge had them training a lot defensively especially around our halves/centre/2R combinations.

Bench isn't too bad either. I saw JGos play 2R and JHunt played prop in QCUP on the weekend. I hope Riki is all good, because from the looks of it, JGos is the only option in that spot.

I rate JHunt, he just hasn't had much NRL time, he has mostly done a goob job filling in when needed. Probably doing a Talty role this week.

I would think Talty goes to lock, considering he has played there before in reserve. Haas probably playing close to 80. Maybe as bit of ball playing like he has done in past to assist Talty

And as for Reynolds, I would actually prefer Duffy to play 7 this week, and we put Reyno as half backup, there is no guarantee he will

1. Play good enough to basically win us the game, need a performance like he did vs Dolphins
2. Last the game.

Duffy didn't do a whole lot wrong attacking wise or defensively. He definitely creates tries, converts well, defends modestly and his kicks are pretty on point, other than 1 that went out on the full, and a few shallow kicks that happen time to time.

I'd assume:
1. Arthars
2. Kara
3. Staggs
4. Gem - I wouldn't be surprised if Gem is benched and Hayze goes to wing, mariner to Centres or something like that. Gem looking slow to make contact when there is enough space for opposition to move. But we'll see.
5. Mariner
6. Mam
7. Reyno (if good) / Duffy (Please be him)
8. CJ
9. Cam
10. Haas
11. Piak
12. Riki / JGos
13. Talty

14. Rogers ? (Who I thought did really well in the middle, really tried to control that ruck, and is a big boy, gives us a good boot out of dummy half too)
15. Willison
16. JHunt
17. JGos/Semu
18. Nio
19. Hayze

Getting down to the nitty gritty of the Top 30. Long story short, we can't give up soft tries and easy line breaks like we did against Cows. We still have enough in attack to win.

With Patty out now I think we look to get exemption for Teague.

Locks aren't the same as props, and Teague is about the only other one we have across the squad.

Talty or Jensen at lock is basically a 3rd prop, but even then we lose them in the prop rotation and from that perspective we've also lost Aublix and BTK as well.

Teague would be able to come in from a hooker perspective, but hopefully we'll get Paix cleared.

Will be a very interesting TLT tomorrow

if @1910 is correct and we haven't filled our top 30, we won't get an exemption for Teague. we'd have to sign him to out top 30. (or give one of our development list a top 30 contract and sign Teague to a development deal.)

Conspiracy theory coming

Maybe they allowed Patty to take the 2 weeks to give him the break.

He has played almost every minute (minus sin bin) so far.

Take the hit and get everyone fit and ready in 3-4 weeks

Sometimes the reason is not obvious but let’s see how we go in 4-5 weeks when troupes are back.

Just need to go 5-5 over first 20 rounds to be there about

DP

Yup, I jokingly called Patty giving himself a rest because Madge wouldn't, but this would not surprise me. It's a long season, any team peaking now will not be there in force when the numbers are dwindling.

This is a great period for Madge to really see what he's got at the club, both in our top players and the guys coming through. No doubt plenty at the club will learn a lot through this period, as long as we stay competitive (or even jag some wins) I think it puts us in good stead for later in the year if we don't get too far behind AND the injuries don't continue to mount up or repeat.

Got a bad feeling we're going to get pumped. Tigers are playing super aggressive & fast where teams are struggling to keep up. With our passive defensive line we're going to concede 70m a set.

At least with our injury list we can accept it and just hope we can start to improve our defence and suffer no more injuries

Patty has been doing a lot more ball playing this season and it’s been quite effective. Can haas play this role? I feel like without carrigan there our halves are going to be easy pickings in attack.

That would seem odd for the NRL to demand that your Top 30 be filled before you can request an exemption.

Very few NRL top 30's are filled at this time of the year and aren't required to be filled until June 30.

Brent Woolfe played for the dolphins in round 1... debuting at 28yr... did they really sign him to a development deal or top 30 contract for that one round?

A quick google has him quoted as being T&T and the NRL contracts page has them at 28 players.

NRL contracts is a shit page that can never really be trusted, but the previous explanation of requesting exemptions was that you had to prove you had no players for that position within your top 30.

That doesn't necessarily mean there's a caveat that your top 30 also needs to be filled, just guys that have a "Top 30" level contract.

They did that with Nio to get him to play off the bench in the Titans game, so, I would assume they'd have to do the same for Teague if they choose to go that route.

Teague in the squad would make everything SO much easier in terms of hooker/lock role. Basically, Tyson Smoothy 2.0 just with more run metres. He must be a pretty strong fella. Would be perfect to keep on the bench.

And if he handles himself well, with the current prop rotation, we might be able to rest Patty for 10-20 minutes a game. When he is back from suspension.
